I mean, it's a Naughty Dog game, sure… but it's almost like Jak is to Crash what Mega Man X was to classic MM, more like a big update of the same core formula. Lots of straight linear paths, mostly flat environments, different types of crates everywhere, focus on collecting things… I expected that they'd drop this kind of design after PS1, I mean the whole thing was already feeling like a 16 bit platformer but in 3D. Still I liked it, and as usual there's some hardware black magic with how it seamlessly loads levels, though to be honest the graphics themselves definitely scream early PS2. And the character design definitely tries too hard to be edgy, I didn't really like it much, the colors are all over the place and Daxter's humor is kind of embarrassing

i wouldnt say jak 1 is "edgy" per se it just has a boyish attitude which was common in adolescent youths before zog melted everyones brains. would you call dennis the menace home alone or the little rascals "edgy"?

Jak 2 is a massive pile of ass. The little chunks of stages pasted around the asshole cancer which is Haven City, was such a retarded move. One of the worst hubs in gaming. No idea if 3 was better, i was so disgusted by 2 after enjoying 1 so much i beat it nearly in one sitting.
