Should I play Thief Gold or Thief The Dark Project? I've read Gold makes some changes and adds a few maps, the reception of these seems mixed.Additionally, Tfix Lite, Full or not at all? I'm suspicious of fan patches.

>>12314648The levels becomes much larger after the first one, you can look at it as a tutorial. Plus, the first game is heavy on horror elements, and killing zombies is not as straightforward as humans.

>>12314525Tfix is borderline necessary if you're on Windows Vista or newer. You can simply use the Lite version (outdated, but worked for me on Windows 7 a few years ago) or use the full version and disable all of the extras during installation (the texture pack is horrendous). I would recommend Thief Gold, but I'm biased because my two favorite Thief 1 missions were added with Gold. The other Gold mission is my second least favorite.

>>12314525Thief Gold. You get three new levels, but they're a mixed bag. Thieves' Guild is bad, Mage's Tower is pretty fun if gimmicky, and Songs of the Cavern is great. I'm pretty sure Gold is also needed for a good amount of the Fan Missions, if you want to try them.
