>Try to keep things /vr/ related: Focus should be on 6th Gen Consoles and older. Slight off topic is fine so long as it's related to CRTs, such as later 16:9 models, HD models, etc. Systems with backwards compatibility are also safe territory, as are re-releases on newer hardware. PC CRTs are also welcome and appreciated.
>Produce OC! Bust out your camera and take photos of your CRTs displaying all sorts of games, featuring all sorts of tubes, using all sorts of signals. Getting good shots can be hard, but if you take enough, at least a few will turn out alright.
>Try and give as much information as possible when asking for info on a specific set, or troubleshooting an issue to expedite and help you may receive. As always, Google is your friend and we are your friends with benefits. Do people read this? Older archived threads aren't a bad place to look either; Seriously, there's literally 6 years of backlog at this point.
>Share appreciation for others choice of technology and personal philosophy of gaming. Always remember to show courtesy in your discussion and moderate yourselves first.

Limited discussion of video processing and scaling devices is alright, but remember to keep the focus on CRTs and CRT accessories.

i have a couple of these tinytrons. I like how dotty they look instead of having thick lines. Definitely unusual looking for aperture grille. Anyone know why they look dotty like a shadow mask? They are still clearly AG going by the horizontal only curvature and sony name.
>>
>>12314704
it's pretty nice but takes a lot of effort to get a setup that doesn't require constant fucking with. Even then switch res is just never as smooth as original hardware for some games that constantly change giving you a momentary black screen. Only ever really noticed that on ps1 and saturn stuff.
>>
>>12314704
Works well for sixth generation games overall. I don't know how to get 240p and I don't care to learn so I leave it at that.
>>
>>12313397
>>
>>12314706
Isn't that screen a bit cropped? Otherwise a cool solution.
>>
>>12314668
Looks a little zoomed it, can you adjust it a bit further?

By the way, the Castle Wall and the Villa in Cornell's scenario have some weird padding not present in the original. I never get to remember what to do in his version of the Villa despite replaying it often. Henry and Reinhardt/Carrie's scenarios in LoD do not have this, so whenever I replay LoD, I end up just using Reinhardt. But Cornell has some exclusive stages on present for the rest that replace the Castle Center (aka the Nitro) for him.

Also, grabbing the same sub-weapon again in LoD boosts its power up to 3 levels. The axe and the holy water are fucking busted in it.

To the rude anon who poopoo'd my free monitor in previous thread, turns out it's a rebranded Panasonic S15. Not bad after a flyback adjustment.

Just get a mister, easier and far better. I used an emudriver/switchres setup for like two years. It's pretty good, though it does take time and effort to tweak everything to get it right. But mister blows it out of the water in pretty much every way except you'll lose out on some features of software emulation but who cares.

Is there a best display port to VGA adapter out there or should I just buy whatever chinkshit I see on amazon?
>>
What’s the newest console you play on your crt? Mine’s the Wii
>>
>>12315402

For what? A crt monitor? I just used a cheap hdmi > vga off of Amazon(Moread) and it works fine. Easily enough bandwidth for any resolutions and framerates a good crt monitor could run. The display port one didn't work well for me for whatever reason.

In case you're trying to get a vga signal for emudriver, that won't work, you need an old AMD graphics card. I can help you further if this what you're trying to do
>>
>>12315407
I mean, that's literally the latest official console with proper CRT support.
>>
>>12315407
Yeah, Wii/360
I use the 360 to play videos and netflix
The Netflix also allows 4:3 output which is great
>>
>>12315420
Yeah just for hooking up a CRT monitor.
>>
>>12315407
i use my wii for 8 and 16 bit stuff but i haven't played a will game since galaxy and skyward sword in 2020. i also played catherine on ps3 a couple years ago, but i mostly use the ps3 as video player and youtube machine for my crt.
>>
>>12315402
Moread v2 dp to VGA is a recommended chink one if you have a regular monitor

>>
>>12315528
Someone did a thorough test and v2 is a lot better than the original
Model number DP2VGA-A-B-V2

Bait, or you don't know how interlacing works

>the picture you took with your phone from far away looks really bad, therefor it must look just as bad in real life, uuuuuhhhh also you should get a Trinitron
I take one long break from this board and it’s immediately inundated with newfags. Sad.

Rex, a still image is not the same as video
>>
Its been 25 years and idiots still dont realize that all TV brands made past 2000 from big companies (Philips, Samsung, etc) use the same fucking Trinitron technology, and their screen are indistinguishable from Sony Trinitrons, not to mention most of the time they have much more service options like being region free, more inputs or better geometry options.

I appreciate you trying to keep the thread alive by posting something so insanely stupid people would be forced to engage, but the thread is titled "Filterfag Tears" so I don't think there's any need for that.

I've used my Wii U on my CRT like once, not having 4:3 support just makes it memey though.

I not too long ago started setting up my PS3 using a component cable instead of HDMI because honestly just fuck dealing with that piece of shit's baked-in HDCP and it made me want to replay a few early gen games that still supported 4:3 on my CRT.

I bought a vga to component converter on amazon, and on nvidia custom resolution put virtual 640x480, but actually outputs 240p and woah, after trying composite and s-video, this tv finnally looks good, why do people like Interlaced eye cancer, I was this close to selling the tv before trying actual progressive output

What the actual fuck is this new captcha

Just picked up a 17" trinitron PC CRT. Anyone have recommendations on what DP-to-VGA adapter I should get? I'm not sure if it's one of those things where any will do. I heard that HDMI-to-VGA is more finnicky and less likely to support higher than 1080p/60hz
>>
>>12316450
Post some examples? I've only seen non sony aperture grille in PC CRTs. Never in consumer TVs. I think you are just mixing up aperture grille and the actual form factor/aesthetics of the flat sony wegas which everyone did copy. But they still used shadow masks.
>>
>>12316450
IIRC its because around that time the Trinitron patent expired so other manufacturers were free to copy it and make their own aperture grilles
>>
>>12316450
