I love this mana game
>>12315810I've played a few Mana games and I do not understand what people like about these. They look alright, but that's about it. I hate everything else.
>>12315812Based contrarian who doesn't get it.
>>12315812>>12315812>I've played a few Mana games and I do not understand what people like aboutSecret of Mana 3 has good replay value
>basic enemy one-shots your high level character
>>12316205anon asked what the play value is, not the replay value.
>>12315810I remember finding the dialogue of the main characters really irritating in this game. I never finished it. Does it have a chocobo like in the original?
>>12317931>Does it have a chocobo like in the original? No, but they were clearly planning on it. There are remnants left in the game data. When a new game is started, it initializes every party member you get throughout the game. It also initializes an unused character: a chocobo. Forcibly adding the chocobo to your party reveals that it has full graphics and basic AI. It may have been intended to fight alongside you because it wanders around and ocassionally attacks enemies.
>>12316242nothing personnel
no you don't
>>12319074You convinced me
>>12315810Its a good game. I only wish collecting spirits wasn't so awkward and the amigo shit didn't require link connections to do much of anything.
Secret of Mana is the only game in the series that I like, but I like it so much its like a top 10 for me
>>12320476Genuine question: Because of its bugs, or in spite of them? Always found it the worst feeling to play legitimately, to the point Ive seen people think spell chaining is an intended feature, but the amount of weapons and their degrees of leveling are extremely satisfying.
>>12315810I replayed this a month ago. Love the setting and look of the game (same with all Mana games), but the balance is just fucked. It's a real feels bad when bosses die in seconds. Giant dragon guarding the mana garden? Dies in one weapon combo. The final boss? Spends longer in phase transitions than he does alive. They give you like 5 ways to grow your character, and if you interact with any two of them the game becomes way too easy.
>>12320489Don't know why, but it just feels maximum comfy. It's one of the few games I could play in perpetuity. I've played every mana game multiple times in my life and they're all decent enough but end up feeling like a slog at parts. Secret I just just chill out and play
>>12320540Thats fair, though I definitely consider some parts of secret a slog, like the absurd power spike in enemies toward the end of the game and some of the backtracking. SD3 has the same problems at times and it has its own menu timer bug though so I get it.
>>12320489Do you recommend snes or remaster?
>>12320762SoM? They're literally the exact same game. They didn't even fix any of the bugs, its pretty much just a filter over the same code.
>>12320775I meant the 3d remakeAlso I replied to the wrong anon lol
>>12320796Oh, Trials of Mana? Yeah, its actually pretty damn good if you liked the original, but it doesn't have multiplayer support which is a pretty big hit. Still better than expected if you can look past the low budget it got.
>>12320802I actually meant SOM1, the remake. But I'm also interested in Trials of mana, so your reply is still appreciated. I already bought the latter, but not the SOM1 remake
>>12315810I should give it another shot, I could never quite get into it as much as SoM. Something about the combat auto-facing you and not letting you swing outside of battles, felt like it reduced the interactivity of the world.
>>12315812So then why did you even post in the thread? Non-opinions don't matter.
>>12320857He was clearly asking for others to explain why they like them.
>>12315810Maybe one of the most underrated games everBasically does the weird real time laggy combat of som/sd3 the best
>>12321557Its always weird how I feel like Sword in particular gets the least respect of the SD1 remakes, honestly feel like it plays the best out of all of them. Even with how awkward some of the mechanics can be at times.
They could've just updated the graphics and leave the gameplay alone but they had to cram it full of busywork bullshit
>>12322465I'm pretty sure thats what the Vita version was, I don't remember if they changed much and just went for the visuals and touchscreen controls or something.
>>12315810Which one is this? Solid pixelart
>>12315812>I've played a few Mana games and I do not understand what people like about thesegrab 2 friends, a case of beer, and order some pizza. then you will get it.
>>12317839can't have good replay value without good initial play value. try again genius.
Sounds like OP has 'Mana Mania', hahaha
>>12320446I don't buy it
evermore was better because it actually had soul.mana 1/2 were the most generic and buggy games I have ever encountered. at least they slightly increased the difficulty in 2 and made the ai less buggy.
