>been in the mood to get a better chinkheld (replacing my 406H with something with better widescreen support, a more-supported chipset, and just more power in general)
>$200+ chinkhelds have been on a glass-front binging session the last year because ??? it looks PREMIUM, I guess???
>always hated glass/glossy shit in my hands, it feels gross as hell and often smudges like crazy, plus the screen protectors on most of these full-glass systems need to be custom made to fit around the buttons , or you only put a screen protector to cover the "game" part of the screen, which kinda kills the purpose of it in the first place
>shop around and try to avoid glass/glossy systems but there's not a lot of options in the $200-400 price range
Well, might as well just say "fuck it", I guess. Or wait for more systems to come out and hope hardware shortages don't blow prices into space, IDFK.
No fuckin' clue why they're doing this either, Chinese stuff generally aims for low-effort solutions for shit, so having them carve out a completely custom glass shape for no reason is just dumb as hell, I'd rather they just do a glass screen to save on costs, time, and the effort of having to manufacture all those specialized glass shapes.

original display died, twice.
first got screen cancer. bought another gameboy light with a beaten up shell but good screen and fixed it.
after a while the second screen got some lines missing and none of the tricks i could find worked.
so, i just gave up and installed an IPS screen.
it's not as fun to use as before, but it's not that bad.
later i got a biverted brick gameboy because i missed the look of the light screen.

Linux PC?
Relash it, and avoid taking it out of the handheld and into the PC again after you have flashed it already and booted into it inside the handheld.
I have this feeling corruption is imminent once you go from PC to Handheld to PC again twice or thrice (in my experience).
I much rather use a USB or WIFI transfer from then on, and just leave the SD card inside as if it were a modern mobile phone.

This nigga, jajajaja
Come on man, get real.
I asked whether he is running Linux because it might detect the filesystem and try to mount it (both are Linux systems) or fsck check disk functions that change a bit the console expects to read in order to boot off the card.

As it somehow the header gets corrupted or something... I dont experience this issue ever in Windows, only Linux. Hell even Windows "fix disk" function can recover those cards, but Linux simply messes with it deeper.

If you are careful to mount in vanilla mode (KDE Arch asks you in tiny print if you rather not check for errors and mount directly, but the main option is to Mount (undeclared checking for errors implied), so many Linux users might have that issue, specially if the fine print option to skip fsck is omited for "newbie friendliness" such as Linux Mint were I could never circumbent the issue with "Mounting Skipping Errors Check" as I can now in Arch KDE.

ExFAT is less prone to corruption that FAT32, I dunno why I thought I had to format it in FAT32 (was it some RetroGameCorps guide?) like you must with Wii Mods, but ExFAT is indeed better due to journaling I believe.

But I heard if you are flashing say, MuOS from an image, the flash image overrides whatever formatting you do beforehand.

I do still deep format (write full of zeros) every other corruption in case there are bad sectors they are culled for the new Partition Table to know which ones to avoid, but it seems a new flash will override even your Partition Table (GPT Partition Table is preferred over MSDOS Partition Tables anyway, in case you are formatting the ROMs TF2 card.

Oh yeah, which is why I narrated last time about having had this RG34XX-SP since Christmas but have just gotten finished with setting it up to my full liking (after understanding the upgrades in the OS since I set RG35XX+ last year).... Messing up once and having to restart wasting 3 days is tradition to me now, at least the first time with each device before I dump clones of their finished working state into an old Shimmied laptop HDD I use to back up the last known state of each console I set up and upgrade.

It is an RPG in itself, advancing incrementally, learning mechanics, perfecting different approaches to the same problem, developing a "personalized" custom OS, finding new bosses, getting friends along the way... It is rewarding to me, it certainly is a hobby in itself, Linux and stuff are. GNU et, al.

Anyways, yeah.. the trick is to leave the PC at the office working on it over night (usually 12hrs per 256GB using the slower cards I get, and considering I have half a million files per handheld, no kidding, and the tinier the files are the slower the transfer is... so yeah... I consider these projects, like building a LEGO or a Gundam or painting, or building a good song mockup during a couple weeks... it can be super rewarding.. I was telling this to another guy I was DM some help outside the scope of MuOS to take him off their open Discord Channel with the topic, and at the end I told him that... dont hurry it, dont think taking some time to finish is something bad, on the contrary I tend to miss the process and its rewarding deliverables.

sounds like my poor man got hit with the infamous "predictable network interfaces names" of the modern linux kernel
it's meant for servers, routers, switches etc. so that every net interface always gets the same name on boot, but it's completely useless on devices with a single ethernet port or wifi chip
adding "net.ifnames=0" to boot parameters makes it go away, but it's still a pain in the fucking ass

I'm torn on which of my setups I like more... on my smartphone bigblur.glslp allows me to have no negative space at all, but CRT shaders don't look too good on it because of the lower resolution and screen size, also has the better controllers... while my tablet has the worse controller, and its size and weight makes it less comfortable, some negative space too... but the CRT shaders look really nice. I think I like the latter more for the bigger screen and CRT shaders alone, though both are good too.

I've played Garfield: Lost Levels recently, as I was always hopeful that those SEGA Channel levels would be found, then Batman: Return of the Joker as I grew up with the OG title and was always curious about this Sunsoft sequel, even played the Tim Burton's Batman prototype on SNES, though it's very bare bones as it was early in making.

I like the look of it, it's pretty subjective I think. I find weakern and warmer lights more comfortable, again it's all subjective. I'll agree my shader options are very autistic, but then again I'm the one playing with them and you can barely tell how it looks in the photo, up close I think it looks more normal. I've been playing video games since I was a kid, emulating since childhood aswell, and got into handheld like setups since around 2023, so I wouldn't say I'm a tourist, and I do play lots, however not as much as I'd like of course, time and chores can be pretty unforgiving unfortunately. Nah. Also, all this time I was under the impression that it was the exact same screen as the 34xx, which I quite like, but no, Anbernic defies logic and had it oversaturated for the 34xxSP. This guy used image-adjustement to tone it down:

Beats the panels they've been using for 4:3 3.5" (and 4" for that matter). And for something that overclocks to 120hz, it's not bad at all.

I don't browse Reddit. I don't see what's the big deal, it's not like my posts are a "just use your phone" that you usually see from smartphone and tablet users, which usually get a big reaction on /hhg/ whenever it's posted, I just post what I'm currently playing and go on tangents, sometimes I ask what everyone else's playing, I'm just posting normally.

I'm aware of the supposed hinge issues but I don't mind getting a replacement hinge if I have to
It just seems perfect for my needs and the cost is just right but like I said if I can find something commuteable that isn't a clamshell for the same price I might go with that

It looks like the replacements they are sending people is different than the V2 and V1 so my clamshell can only grow stronger if I do have to replace it

Got Pocket Air Mini couple of days ago. Build quality and materials feel great given that it's a $80 device. Performance is fine as well.
However the fan is running often and has high pitch to it, and the dpad and ABXY buttons are mushy as fuck. I'd much rather prefer they clicked like ie. Switch buttons do.

Fees? What fees? I was exactly $0 for me.
