Post games you'll never get tired of
>>
System Shock 2. It's impossible to get bored of System Shock 2.
>>
>>12346390
Certainly not that.
>>
>play forever shitty world map full of backtracking while your adventure is slowed down by cringey kiddy nupokemon story and lore
nobody deserves such a fate

Pretty awful selection so far
>>
For financial reasons I’d love to find and a single player game I could play over and over again. Like chrono trigger, which I played over and over again until everyone was level **
>>
>>12346443
Not retro, but look into Crystal Project.

Why is it EVERY TIME I get to the bike path in Emerald I am bored, but in Crystal I have so much fun? I am genuinely confused. I remember playing the shit out of it as a kid and loving it, but I just lose interest for whatever reason so fast and I don't know why.

>>
>>12346602
is the sequel any good
>>
>>12346616
no in my opinion because it tried to be more "actiony" instead of sticking to the more strategic/tactical aspects . Some people might like that though

Good choices but Oblivion and DQ3 have better replay value
>>

>>
>>12346390
game i always go back to are pokemon and god of war 1/2, san andreas, harvest moon
>>
>>12346404
This pokemon gets boring once you beat it unless you're autistic and like 100 hours of grinding

Also RSE is a step backward from GSC

no one cares, go get your gold symbols
>>
>>12346469
>>12346582
HoMM3 and OpenRCT2 are probably the best ones of the thread so far
>>
>>12347149
One gold symbol takes longer than going through all of gen 2 Kanto. That means Hoenn actually has at least 8 regions.
>>
>>
The skill ceiling is so high for scoring that it could be the only video game i'd ever need

Probably the first Crash Bandicoot - I think Ive booted that up at least once a week since I was 5. Otherwise maybe Pokemon G/S/C, Final Fantasy Adventure, or Mega Man 3 or 4.
For PC maybe Might and Magic 6 or Age of Empires 2, or Morrowind.

All of these are games I find fun in a real sense (i.e. beyond it is okay and inoffensive enough and numbs my brain which means it is fun.)

Morrowind and Oblivion. I end up doing a 20 hour playthrough almost every year.

based. Love Oblivion. Though Morrowind rocks just as hard. The ES game I've played the least is Skyrim, since the guilds suck. Still fun though.

did you ever catch them all?
I never caught them all
maybe I should
>>
>>12347081
DQ1 is the only one I've ever played. I intend to move to DQ2 once I get tired of this one, if that ever happens. I like how you get to explore the world after beating the big bad, with no threats and little treats.

For me it's old harvest moon games (until the newer ones started to suck) where you literally just live a comfy cute lil life with pleasant music and pixel art chinese foods and whatever

can't believe no one has said classic Doom yet. and by that, i mean Doom 1&2, Plutonia, TNT etc.
i find myself playing that shit all the time, especially because the modding community is still alive and well.

>(until the newer ones started to suck)
that's because the publisher stole the rights to the english name and starting putting out their own slop. the real series continues with story of seasons(which is the proper translation of the original japanese name for the series)
>>
>>12346581
DQ1 is just so comfy, going around towns and piecing together all that you have to do to prove yourself as a hero and beat the game is so magical, it's so simple but very effective, it really feels like you're on an adventure
>>
>>12348374
>I like how you get to explore the world after beating the big bad
Pretty sure that's a thing in most DQ games, Earthbound did it too.
>>
>>12350149
Even with that in mind they've only recently started making good games again with the Grand Bazaar remake, everything inbetween Trio of Towns and Grand Bazaar remake is shovelware tier slop aside from the doraemon games.
>>
>>12346390
Super Metroid, Earthbound, Chronotrigger, and unironically: Q*Bert

I meant that the games started to suck starting after like the first DS game, before the infamous corporate naming shenanigans. The series was always janky but there was that window where it had fantastic soul. After that, Some of them had decent gameplay but it felt like slop more and more each time instead of really progressing.
Also lots of the artstyles were garbage (like magical melody). Even the recent remakes have the stupidest art styles (but at least the AWL remake doesn't have 3D bubble cows with giant tumors for faces. The characters and other animals have 0 soul though).
>the music in the series has always slapped tho.
>>
THPS is basically the only game that I'm always in the mood for
>>
My desert island game would probably be San Andreas. Maybe dungeon siege if you let me mod it to bring back the multiplayer map and expansion in the shit-ass modern re-release.
>>
>>12347119
GSC is more grindy than RSE by virtue of everything being bulkier in the former game.

Not really, the RSE E4 sudden level increase is more annoying than anything in GSC

I know. I wish other JRPGs actually modeled themselves on Dragon Quest and did stuff like this instead of being moviegame wannabees.

>>12354935
I agree. It's interesting looking at the early DNA of RPGs that were focused on open exploration with an expectation of death that came with loss of resources, rather than them evolving into a more linear and easier experience with death equaling game over.
>>
>>12355324
Any game with a map creator is a good choice
