Ive really been wanting to play Clock Tower (1995) for a while now, but im not sure if i should get an SNES english rom hack or if i should just get Rewind.
Which one is best? Is Rewind worth the price?

Also open to any other horror point and click recommendations like this series

Great game and should definitely play, but who gives a fuck about the versions? Just play it with whatever means you have and enjoy.

>>The worst offender though is the full screen pop-ups telling you that you have unlocked a cutscene in the menu. So, whatever horror and suspense that was just revealed is completely ruined by being covered with the alert.

God I love modern gaming

I was mostly asking because ive heard that theres some differences and extra content so im not sure which one is worth it.
But yes youre right, it was a stupid question sorry ;_;

That does sound kinda annoying I guess but Clock Tower isn't remotely scary or tense anyways. I give them props for doing a SNES horror game but there's a reason the genre wasn't super popular.

They're both worth it because its a great game, my point was more that its not worth cherry picking that kind of shit because good games are worth playing more than once, so you can just play both versions if you're that curious. Treating retro games as one and done experiences and obsessing over having the best possible experience removes the ability to appreciate anything less than the best, and topics like this basically admit the player needed to be shielded from any blemishes people experienced with a game. Its a lot easier to sppreciate games when you don't worry about that shit and just play them, then play multiple versions if you need to know instead of relying on anonymous opinions you have no way of measuring.

Being desensitized by screen flashing loud noise jumpscare bullshit doesn't mean CT wasn't tense. In fact, not knowing how a lot of its mechanics work actually makes increases tension quite a bit.

Fair enough anon, I might just get both and get all the endings in both versions, only problem is that I was gonna emulate on 3ds but the rom seems to have problems
Eh I'll figure it out
But I thank you for your responses fren

Stolen?
QRD?

There is a romhack that backports the PS1 extras into the original Super Famicom version and even adds Mario Paint Mouse support.

LRG all it did was steal that romhack and hire one of the bitches who cancelled MikeZ to draw some crappy faux-anime cutscenes and wrap it around some fancy emu app with an ugly RetroArch shader, and call it all "The Carbon Engine".

They did this with Tomba and meme bad games like the Bubsy ones too, and expect you to pay full 80$ price tag for these micro games slapped on a 256GB customized SD card for the switch.

Anon those games are like 10-20 dollars max, and theyre always on sale, are you ok?
>>
>>12354157
I read that they brought the hack author on board, and the restorations (which is apparently unused content in the original) were optional.

Why are you okay with shovelware?
