Is a modded GBC with an Everdrive the ultimate gaming device ?
Ultimate rapid battery drainer perhaps

>>12355568Do you even like videogames? Why are you here?
>>12355220>is this the ultimate way to try to fit inI guess
>>12355603>Game Boy Color is now mainstream and everyone has one in 2026Source/QRD?
>>12355229Good thing they're cheap now
>>12355568they don't make phones with buttons anymore ;(
>>12357086Get one of these bad boys.
>>12355220No. The screens for those things are garbage. My vote for the best handheld gaming device is the Analogue Pocket. Plays all of my Game Boy cartridges (including Advance), plus I can run FPGA cores for bunch of other consoles and handhelds. AND THE SCREEN IS FUCKING AMAZING.But if you don't like Analogue, there is an open source alternative in the works called the Game Bub.
>>12355220Kinda? I mean it's mad fun, but not at that price point, that's for sure.I have fond memories of the GBC (and plenty of games I haven't finished on it yet, but want to eventually), so I got myself an used one in absolute shit condition and then slowly repaired it / modded it as time and finances allowed.Think the only things I've ordered for it locally were 3D printed spacers (for holding the modded screen perfectly in place, and that's only because the Chinese didn't offer them at the time, I'm sure they're much cheaper nowadays) and a 5V USB power plug with a 3V stepdown converter integrated into it.Everything else, AliExpress and waiting on sales. Lookin' gud now, was a fun project, sure as fuck didn't cost me 240 Euro. That's just mental. The anon who mentioned that a backlit screen + flashcart is a battery killer is correct, like it or not, and that cannot be stressed enough. On regular batteries, I get roughly two hours of play time. On rechargable Eneloop Pros, around an hour and a half, and that's on the lower brightness settings. Also, if you're playing late at night in bed (while the rest of the world is sleeping and it's dead quiet), you'll hear a slight humm from the flashcart.I mostly play on the Super Gameboy though, have a tiny CRT on my desk next to my regular monitor and PC, so I can slowly grind away at the RPGs as I'm doing other shit. Currently enjoying the fan translation of Telefang, ain't half bad, beautiful use of the SGB too. But yeah, GBC is more of a backup device or one I'd use solely for GBC exclusives. If Super Gameboy Color was a thing or if I had a GameCube with the Game Boy Player, I'd probably just sell the GBC. Not that there's anything wrong with it, it is a very fun console, but after modding it the battery life IS shit, so the whole portability aspect is out the window. And if you're constantly plugged into a power cable or recharging batteries, you might as well play on the TV or a 4:3/5:4 monitor. IMHO.
>>12357228>anal lograped and shitted on by the RPC
>>12357345>not getting the true FPGA experience for peanuts and DIYing itJust get the FPGBC.
