>A direct story-arc continuation of
Dino Crisis 2 was in development, but it was heavily reworked and ultimately abandoned following the September 11, 2001, attacks. The original, planned concept for Dino Crisis 3 was set to follow up on the cliffhanger ending of Dino Crisis 2, featuring Regina attempting to rescue Dylan and his daughter, Paula, from a time-displaced, dinosaur-infested city.
>Following the September 11 attacks, Capcom deemed a game featuring a destroyed American-style city to be in poor taste, leading to the cancellation of this original premise.

The guy you're responding to is objectively correct though. Due to 9/11 we have fewer games from the 6th gen plus lasting economic problems which of course would effect disposable income industries (i.e. vidya) first. Thanks, Israel.

Man the American public really were softies.

Would the game have been better if they had stuck with the original premise? In theory, the gameplay issues shouldn't have been affected, but who knows? Perhaps not having to rethink everything would have given them more time to solve some problems.

3,000 people died, it was live on TV,. People watched other people cling to windows 1000 feet in the air then jump to their deaths from a burning building because they couldn't escape the flames. 3,000 ordinary people dead in a single day. Of course sheltered people who never experienced anything bad are the ones to say this.

pathetic, China would never....

Never happened and America hasn't suffered a war within it's borders since the Civil War.

Americans were the only ones who would give a shit about a new dino crisis.

mentioning politics on this website is akin to someone swerving into oncoming traffic because they felt an itch on their leg. the instant the portion of the brain that stores all the jew information is triggered they basically become werewolves.

I know you're being a cringe zoomer who wasn't even alive then but yeah it was a big deal. there were crashes in NYC, DC and rural PA. Lots of people work from neighboring states so people in New Jersey, Connecticut, Maryland and Virginia were heavily affected too. it heavily affected the east coast directly and parts of the midwest and south as well.

not to mention the airspace being completely closed for the first time in history. the first time I flew was December that year to see my dad for christmas and there was the Detroit shoe bomber coming from Amsterdam. it was global jihad that still persists to this day

that said I remember christmas 2001 being super comfy, I had gotten a blow out Dreamcast for like $59 with red and blue translucent controllers and matching VMU's plus sonic adventure 2 and sonic shuffle (Mario party clone thats better than Mario party). that christmas I got Code Veronica which was insane back in 2001. still holds up as being one of the best "original" style RE's to this day.

>According to Kojima in the documentary Metal Gear Saga Vol. 1, the original plot of the game revolved around nuclear weapon inspections in Iraq and Iran

>Significant changes to the game's ending were made late in development following the September 11 attacks in New York, where the finale occurs. A sequence depicting Arsenal Gear's displacement of the Statue of Liberty and crashing through half of Manhattan was removed, as was a short coda to appear after the credits, a breaking newscast showing the Statue of Liberty's new resting place, Ellis Island.

>Other deleted scenes included Solidus shredding the New York Stock Exchange flag with his sword during the crash of Arsenal Gear and the fall of this flag over his body after his death, and American flags that were supposed to be on all the flagpoles in New York were removed from the title.

>The Japanese spelling of the name "Raiden" was changed from katakana (ライデン) to kanji (雷電) due to the former form of the name resembling "Bin Laden" in Japanese.

People actually were afraid to be in tall buildings afterwards, no matter how statistically improbable or irrational it was. It was not unheard of to hear that, even if you didn't live in a major city. Nothing like that happened in many people's lifetimes.

Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro (PS1) had the final boss take place in the WTC, they changed it to 2 random buildings, but the OG version does exist still.

Dude, there was a whole set of missions due to 9/11 removed in GTA III that involved a homeless dude in the tunnel behind the caryard on the first island giving you missions where you committed terrorist acts against pedestrians (and including one mission where you were supposed to fly the Dodo into Love Tower on the second island).
