Has anyone anywhere played any of the Double Dragon games and thought to themselves 'damn dude this really feels like the post-apocalypse up in here'? I've never got that feeling from any of them. Yet that's the setting.
I never knew that, so I guess not.
The second one ... kind of almost gives off those vibes. I remember watching the movie as a kid and wondering why it was full post-apocalypse. I'm pretty sure I also thought they were just copying the Mario movie.
>>12358848It's a little bit more like the first Mad Max movie where the apocalypse has not happened but everything is basically fucked. Society is breaking down, ruthless gangs are out of control, the rule of law is slipping away. Things are just starting to get scarce and everyone is on edge. The kind of time when a tragedy doesn't just break your heart. It drive you mad. It's an underused setting actually.
>>12358848Yeah I only learned about this a few years ago and it surprised me. I guess I'm so used to post-apocalyptic settings being like Mad Max or Fist of the North Star that anything that still has lush forests and fully intact infrastructure doesn't strike me as such.>>12359017I think the manga/anime/film Riki-oh is this way but it's been a long time since I've read/watched it. I recall there still being a government albeit very weak and privatized.
