30 years ago today, Mewtwo was born.
>>12369020Well, the clear implication in the game is that those events with Mew took place some number of years before the main story, so I'm not sure where you're coming up with>30 years
>>12369034Dude
>mew>villain's name is mewtwowho writes this shit?
>>12369046My uncle who works at Nintendo
Since pokemen lay eggs, wouldn't they have some incubation period?
Also that's why Mew wasn't under the truck, these scientists had already picked him up from under there.
>>12369020mewtwo was born in japan, its already the 7th there you missed his birthday.
>>12369054First gen was wildly inconsistent across all media, and big parts of it were retconned. The anime depicts Mewtwo as a test tube clone, and the Switch Kanto game says they "obtained a new Pokémon from Mew".
>>12369054Mewtwo was retconned to be a genetic clone.
>>12369045Right, and according to those log books, Mewtwo predates the first Pokemon games. So Mewtwo would be older than 30 years, if the games were set in "present day" when they were released. >>12369054Not all pokemon lay eggs. Mew and Mewtwo are among the species not known to hatch from eggs.
>>12369086The "no eggs discovered" group just means they haven't found out how they reproduce or occur, and many of the legendary Pokémon in this egg group have been depicted hatching from eggs. For gameplay reasons it's just so you can't breed more legendaries, but plenty of media makes it clear that they do reproduce.
>>12369054gen 1 was before they put any real thought into the world and lore. They're just creatures slapped onto the real world and locations. Don't ask any questions and ignore the ghastly caused elephant genocide
>>12369136>Don't ask any questions and ignore the ghastly caused elephant genocideSAAR PLEASE DO NOT ALLOWING THE GHOST POKEMON TO TOPPLE THE WAR ELEPHANT SAAAAR
Why did the original Pokemon game reference real-world space travel? What it just a subject that the staff were interested in, or what?
>>12369148>he doesn't know pokemon is set in another planet in the far future after humanity colonized the galaxy but lost all their most advanced tech thanks to some cataclysmic eventngmi
>>12369113Well it's no wonder the legendary BIRDS hatch from eggs. Does Mewtwo look like a bird to you?
>>12369046mewthree
>>12369201Not him, but Mew blatantly has embryo/egg imagery.
>>12369136>>12369147>and ignore the ghastly caused elephant genocidefucking hwat
>>12369249One of its dex entries mentions killing Indian elephants. You could've verified this yourself if you were smart enough to type "gastly elephant" into a search engine. But alas,
>>12369258>But alas, and yet I didn't need to type anything into anything because you just replied to me. man, the technology is amazing.
>>12369020Sakurai's cat died on the same day that Mew gave birth to Mewtwo...
>>12369054Eggs weren't until gen 2
>>12369148Because it's set in the real world. They directly reference real world locations like the Amazon, and real world events like the moon landing, and the region map is a real world location in Japan. The lore in the first gen was that pokemon were a newly discovered species, and for a little while they carried on with the idea of the new Pokemon in new regions being Neely discovered pokemon until they realized that didn't make sense and they changed it.
>>12369270You also probably should've been able to do it with context clues, but alas,
>>12369270>But alas,>and yetLiterally seriously?
>>12369313
>>12369389those are seeds
>>12369389Listen here you little shit
>>12369421
Whenever I play a gen 1 game I like to sometimes name random pokemon that I catch after Mew. I'll be like "yeah mewtwo aint shit I got myself a mewFOUR" and it's just a Bellsprout with a silly name.
>>12369086Blane left his keys there and it’s implied the Pokemon lab just moved recently so it couldn’t be that long ago.
>>12369389You have to eat all of the eggsecute.
>>12369438So they sacrifice one of themselves to attack?
>>12369438What now bitch
>>12369794your own card has given away the inarguable truth
>>12369807Selective quoting is devious, anon. Not unlike your mama's pussy, it is the plaything of demons.
>>12369812>it's a Pokemon actuallyit's that so
>>12369020Yes, I finally have a reason to post this!
>>12371398>og genwan designbased
>>12369046Bono
>>12369206ngl it must have taken restraint when they were working on gentoo
Remember in X and Y people saying they hatched Mew from Mewtwo but I never got it to work.
It's honestly kinda interesting how the appearance of Mew was a mystery for a very short amount of time... I guess for most people it was never really a secret (especially by the time the anime released, and Mew is just plainly in the intro. But if you were in Japan on release, you wouldn't have known.
>>12372662Even weirder to me is learning Missingno was discovered just a month into the game's US release. Or that the game had enough of an active older teen/adult player base to document it.
>>12369201Pokemon aren't actual eggs. They're magic cradles Arceus sticks new pokemon in.
>>12369320OG Pokemon lore was kino.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yy0lzgXAgw
>>12369320I actually liked it better that it was more real world.
>>12374473>Or that the game had enough of an active older teen/adult player base to document it.It was a big hit.
>>12369046>Alucard
>>12369020BUT WHO WAS THE FATHER?
>>12369210>2001 referencewho actually clocked that back in the day
>>12380868Fun fact, Creatures Inc., used to be APE Inc., which name and logo was based on 2001's dawn of man part.
>>12382362and here i thought it was just because the devs or just shigesato itoi liked monkeys.
>>12374473a lot of people probably tried grinding on cinnabar's shores so they'd quickly notice that there's something really odd about the pokemon encounters. then try entering different encounter zones then go back to cinnabar to experiment. then hey, what if i tried using the old man's tutorial fight for a base and then returned to cinnabar's shores!
>>12382473Same thing with HALKEN/HAL Labs, named after HAL 9000
>>12382613interesting stuff
>>12380868I don't watch kike propaganda.
>>12382362I always thought it was supposed to be a Bigfoot reference.Like other RPGs of there era were defined by dragons and stuff, and then this random American-inspired game is just Bigfoot
>>12386487
>>12386494is Bigfoot real?
>>12387986Do you not see the footprint?
>>12384582Okay.
>>12386487I wouldn't be surprised if that sprite in particular was a direct reference to APE Inc.
