it's one those mediocre slops R* dropped in the 00's between making GTA games
Manhunt, The Warriors, Smuggler's Run..... all shit
>>
>>12376707
Manhunt and smugglers run are both fun
>>
>>12376707
Warriors is literally the best beat em up ever made
>>
>>12376796
it's fucking garbage even Goy Hand was better
>>
>>12376805
>even Goy Hand was better
Okay, so what's a good beat em up from that gen?
>>
>>12376843
Urban Reign, MK Shaolin Monks and ofc the king of beat'em ups Yakuza
>>
>>12376643
It's good but short, weird development cycle too that started with capcom
>>
>>12376643
HE'S ON THE LIV'RY
>>
>>12376643
The only truly fun Rockstar game along with Warriors. They had real talent but were obsessed with the shitty open world gimmick.

>urban reign
Hear Ye, Hear Ye— the King of the Contrarians has graced us with his holy person.

>>12376643
I liked it a lot, the shooting felt tight and extremely satisfying, especially when you’d land headshots. Only game I’ve played that manages to capture that same cathartic feeling for blowing someone’s head off is pic related (not retro).

I also liked the graphics and music. RDR was the first spaghetti western style game I’d played before and it was really a delight.
>>
>>12377523
I really like Urban Reign but the Warriors mogs it, but man, if they made a few better decisions (like coop from the start), Urban Reign might have a chance.

>>12376875
Yakuza combat is fucking GARBAGE dude. You only play Yakuza for the story and the depressing depiction of Japan (at least in the first game). Now I know you're a contrarian retard.

And while Yakuza isn't the worst beat em up gameplay wise (I can name two worse ones by Capcom alone with this and Final Fight Streetwise or The Bouncer), but calling Yakuza king of beat em ups is contrarian at best and retarded at worst.
>>
>>12376707
>Smuggler's Run..... all shit
oh no anon is choking on a THOUSAND COCKS
>>
it's unironically dogshit
shooting feels awful and only like 20% of your headshots actually land and shooting is all you fucking do in this game
if you want a good cowboy ps2 game then just play Gun
>>
>>12377872
>if you want a good cowboy ps2 game then just play Gun

this. IRL everyone forgot about Red Dead Whatever when Gun came out. just an overall superior game.
>>
>>12377523
>Urban Reign is Le bad!
not only you are the real contrarian but you're also a zoom zoom
you weren't around in the PS2 days when Urban Reign was popular everywhere and even those who didn't play it were familair with the cover
now The Waredditors and Goy Hand is the other hand were a literal who slop no one heard of until contrarians on the internet started shilling them
>>
>>12377679
>>12377691
Yakuza 2 gameplay is smooth and fun af
you probably only played the first game and got filtered by the cluncky attack movements
>>
>>12377872
>>12378001
The way Revolver teleports you to set pieces for missions felt like shit compared to Gun or even other Rockstar games.
I checked out once I got to the wacky explodey Circus boss.
>>
>>12378001
>GUN
Had this game, everyone loved it except me. They also all love sports slop and COD so take that how you will.
The only part in the game I like was the mission where you shoot a reservation worth of Indians while protecting your dynamite/nitro carrying Chinese coolies.

trash made for the lowest form of "gamer" that exists
>>
>>12378435
Oh that's good to hear
I played the first one and by the end I was really burnt out by the stale combat and I was anxious to play the second game
>>
>>12379521
Would it have been better if it had Capcom on the box as was originally intended?
>>
>>12379521
It's a Capcom game
>>
>>12379546
the only Japanese thing in the final product was character designs done by a nip artist CrapCum sent to America
>>
>>12376707
Isn't it some Japanese game Rockstar bought rights for some reason?
>>
>>12379679
It started development with Angel Studios and was to be published by Capcom before Rockstar acquired Angel and rebranded it to Rockstar San Diego.

Red Dead Revolver had its character designs done by Akiman (Street Fighter 2, Final Fight. Turn A Gundam). So it has a bit of an understated Japanese flavor to it.

Contrarian

>>12376643
It's a good 1-and-done experience. Nothing good to remember other than it somehow leads into Red Dead Redemption.
>>
Kinda bizarre that this was the first in the franchise that would end up far more grim and gritty and stripped of the more stylish elements of the first game.
>>
>>12379391
it takes a special kind of faggot not to like Gun
>>
>>12381482
>it somehow leads into Red Dead Redemption.
It's not linked to the later games in any way except for the title and wild west setting.
>>
>>12376938
Yea Capcom couldn’t make it work is what I remember reading and R* took it and pushed it out. I enjoyed it and Deadman’s Hand but can’t stand Gun. I’m glad they did too because RDR2 is about the only modern game I can play and it’s all because of them taking it off Capcoms hands.
>>
I love Red Dead Revolver and Gun, I think Gun is the better game overall, but Red Dead Revolver is great in its own way. For one it's pretty difficult! You actually get a challenge. I can tell how many anons died during the Freak Show level and never beat the game. The shooting is fast paced and has a real arcadey feel, especially with the giant glowing targets

The story is pretty good too, and I liked that you play as different characters over the course of it.

>>12381401
So stylish. The whole game is like they took all the coolest most stylish parts of Spaghetti Western movies and did their best to translate them into game graphics.
>>
>>12378001
Gun doesn't have great multiplayer though.
>>
>>12376843

>Goy Hand

kek

i bought that game for 40 sheckels!
>>
>>12378434

>you weren't around in the PS2 days when Urban Reign was popular everywhere and even those who didn't play it were familair with the cover

absolutely unhinged post. i was in high school/college during the ps2 era and I've never heard of that game before. maybe try touching grass.
>>
>>12376707
hatin' The Warriors and Red Dead Revolver is so early to mid 20s zoomer contrarian coded
>>
>>12376805
>Goy Hand
you're a severely brainrotten faggot
>>
>>12376938
>short
On what planet is Red Dead Revolver "short"?
Maybe you're just an adhd Redemption zoomer?
>>
>>12377523
You don't even know what "spaghetti western" means.
>>
>>12381606
because as discussed earlier Red Dead Revolver was bought, not built

redemption is what rockstar *actually* independently came up with; so of course there'd be less charm and wonder going forward
>>
>>12381482
you didn't / don't have friends
>>
>>12384434
You think these obnoxious faggot retards could have engaged with the multiplayer? lol
>>
>>12384474
>i was in high school/college during the ps2 era and I've never heard of that game before
because you had no friends you loser, i bet you were still playing Pokemon and Mario at that age
>>12384497
faggot please, i can understand calling a contrarian fot hating The Redditors, it's a game with a fair number of fans (with shit taste) although they are just a loud minority
but Reddit Deadname Revolver? no one likes this shit game even the contrarians on /v/ did not sink to your level
>>
>>12384501
i will not call it by that blasphemous name, kys fedora tipping fag
>>
>>12384504
In this world where I beat it in a weekend 20 years ago you tryhard faggot
>>
>>12385119
>Reddit Deadname Revolver
I kek'd. Still it takes a serious level of faggotry to hate Revolver.
>>
>>12384508
Doesn’t it mean there’s lots of blood and guts sort of like how spaghetti looks?
>>
>>12387224
No, Sam Peckinpah did that first, they're called Spaghetti Westerns because they were made in Italy.
>>
>>12387251
RDR and Blood West were both made by Italians
>>
>>12387251
Big surprise that morbidly obese sharts used a food analogy for the term.
>>
>>12382230
>Many
I'm the only one who brought it up. You can be mad because you liked it and cry filtered but I was wanting more of what Gun gave me, a grounded tone that made it feel like a real western and a sense of adventure captured by an unbroken progression through an open world, and by that part it was obvious I wasn't getting it.
>>
>>12387256
They do love Westerns, and make some pretty good ones. (Also some pretty bad ones, but that's moviemaking for you)
>>12387386
>Americans are fat!
>in the 1960s!
Your weird obsession is noted, now fuck off, retard
>>
>>12388267
I accept your concession, tendie
>>
>>12381851
