I think the rules state any game made before 07 for this generation (ps2) of games counts. so if thats legal...is this game worth trying to play now?It's the only real final fantasy game I haven't played (not counting 14, 15, 16 Troon slop). I rented it back in the day for ps2 and had no fucking clue how to interface it with our internet nor the right components. but I understand I can use VMware fusion free (as long as I agree to not hijack nuclear silos or military mainframes) and emulate windows (yuck) 11 and still run it on modern private servers. is it actually WORTH doing it though if you're a fan of FFX specifically? I generally don't like MMOs. I never bothered with WOW, hate ESO and only ever put serious time into FO76 which is a piece of shit game really. but I feel compelled to try this game out since of the original games this is the only one I never played (barely played 12 or 13 but I;m not worried about that)

I dont have that much familiarity with Ultima to be honest and I've been meaning to for awhile. I played little bits of some of the console games on SNES9x back in the mid 00's. You won't see this on their discord, sometimes reddit posts allow the drama, but the GMs/staff abuse their power and favor their friends. They claim to be transparent and hard on botting, exploits and so on, but give the staff and friends a free pass. They actively tell people in the know of current exploits, and when they're fixed see no consequences. It's been very hard to spread the news of this, cause they dirty delete in most channels. You'll hear about it on other private server discords though. If you're active try to bring it up, you'll get banned.

It definitely is kinda ass to play and incredibly slow but that's part of the niggas charm. I enjoy walking around the world and just beating up shit, it's fun. The super late-game is just playing farmville while you wait a month to do anything. But the regular old quests, leveling up, and general adventuring in XI is unmatched by anything else.

FFERA tends to have a high turn over rate for people similar to you, just looking to sort of "beat the game" as it's a fast level up. Catseye is more for raids type stuff. Eden is inbetween. Horizon is for the grind though, it's intentionally slow.
