Why do people still keep a game collection for a console they modded to play games off storage?

Surely any games they still own would now make more sense to cash out on than just having lie around while starting a game is as simple as picking it from the menu instead of getting the disc out, potentially removing a previously played game from the drive, putting the new one in, then starting the game.

Is it sentiment?

That's like asking why someone chooses to buy photo prints of pictures they own digitally on their smart phones, tablets or PC's. It's also like asking why does someone keep comic books physically when they can download them digitally? Physical ownership is the reason why we keep a collection. You may not like it, but not everyone wants to sell the stuff they want to keep. If there comes a day when I do need to sell my games, at least I know it will have value and I will make a profit on eBay with it. But for now, I have no intentions of doing so because I am fine financially. So having this stuff in my possession has purpose.

But in your examples those are only worth something to you as an individual.

Selling your unneeded games means it can be meaningful to someone else (who hasn't been enlightened to the one true way, obviously) and potential profit for you. And no better way to make your physical games unneeded than to have access to any game in the entire console's catalog at any time on a single storage device.

These are the best win-win mods for me. I get to keep my discs as instalation discs and have a nice personal library that i can grab from at anytime to do a fresh install or just pop into an unmodded system, while also saving on any unnecessary wear & tear for long play sessions. It's also nice not relying on the web to find disc images when i can just use my own. I have my ps2, xbox and psp set up like this and hope to do it with more disc based stuff in the future.

Well yeah, I sold two unneeded games to someone else, which made me profit and hopefully them happy. This happened back in 2018 I think.

Sell your games to chumps.

better question is why does it upset you so much that they do that?

Owning legitimate copies just feels good. Plus, what if you want to play something and your mod stops working, or your modded console craps out and you replace it with one that you hasn't been modded yet?

Because digital won't outlive me, but physical will. I guess if you wanna be gay about it, holding onto those games as they get more rare means you can cash in more money in the case your modded console breaks or needs repairs.

Because we can be better as a community that stops relying on outdated ways to experience old games.

Because I am a hoarder.

but i don't care what you think is good for the "community" (lol)

Outdated or not, we still prefer to have our own copies of games that we've always wanted when we were kids. If we want to enjoy those games digitally while owning physical games, that's our business. Not yours. I highly doubt anyone wants a copy of Wolverine Adamantium Rage for the Sega Genesis. I do because I love me some bad comic book games that I can then use cheats for to beat the game and enjoy the music.

For your sake i hope this is a joke. Otherwise you are the biggest fag on this board.

"installation disc" you're so filtered and a fag it's not even funny.
>>

>put disc in my ps2
>copies directly to hard drive
>take disc out
Yes, in that situation it becomes an installation disc, cutie pie.

I'm only trying to enlighten people.
