Is this game/series worth playing?
>>12387809>midwayProbably not unless it's a sport game or a fighter
>>12387809Only if you've played just about every other jarpig out there and are physically incapable of enjoying any other genre. They're mediocre at best.>>12387816Retard.
>>12387818Im craving an under appreciated/under the radar PS2 jrpg. what do you recommend
>>12387818>retardYet you agree with me that it's probably not worth playing. If your game is getting published by Midwest akklaim it's because no real company thinks it's worth releasing.
>>12387809Of course. It's a secret top tier franchise.
>>12387809Absolutely, I played them a few years ago and had a really good time, especially with 2 and 3. Koudelka for PSX is actually part of the series too, and is unique and pretty fun, but I wouldn't say it's necessary to play from a plot perspective. Lots of people will complain about 3, but it's very good and worth playing, just expect something unrelated to the previous 2 and a little more light hearted. It's also worth mentioning that 2 and 3 are a lot deeper gameplay wise compared to 1, so if you don't find yourself enjoying 1 it might be worth it to skip it and try 2, just read a summary and you'd be good.
I only played Shadow Hearts 1 and 2 and I liked them though the first was a bit janky. Mitsuda did some of the songs in both of the games and it's obvious which ones were him.
If you enjoy JRPG's, you definately should try them.I've only beaten 1 and 2 , but they are 7/10 masterpieces.
Played through Shadow Hearts Covenant recently and it was fun. The judgement wheel keeps things interesting and it had a cool ww1 setting
>>12387809This cover art would have sold better. I fapped to her ass in magazine ads. Shadow Hearts is too expensive on ebay guess now I have to emulate it for free. k bye.
>>12387816Yeah honestly seeing that as a publisher for a JRPG is worrisome. Back in the day I would’ve avoided the game based on seeing the Midway logo alone.

>>12387809There's probably better these days like Expedition 33 that everyone loves, but back then it was a good cheap alternative to Final Fantasy X. I like it enough and only later did I play FFX to find I couldn't finish it when they wanted the whole world to sing in unison, I quit FFX and never went back, so I actually prefer Shadow Hearts as it was a much more tolerable experience.
>>12387809>Shadow Shartsnah, mediocre slop: the seriesthe stupid clock thing in the combat sucks ass, i was promised a turn based game not shitty QTE
>>12387809Yes, fantastic series that peaks at Covenant.Play Koudelka if you want some additional lore (its a prequel) and lays the groundwork for the general vibe they were going for with the series. The PS2 games basically just get wackier and wackier as they release. The games have unique backdrops in that you play in 20th century settings with alternate / fantasy horror thrown in. You literally play as Russian Princess Anastasia in Covenant. Al Capone is a major character in Brave New World. Its just something really fresh and different if you're tired of usual fantasy / scifi crap.1 is kind of a tough game but pretty short. It always felt like a PS1 rpg on PS2 (pre rendered backgrounds, it DEFINITELY feels like an early PS2 game)2 (Covenant) has probably one of my favourite battle systems in any jrpg I've ever played, it was so goddamn fun chaining attacks. My only complaint might be is that the game is a bit easy. New World is just wacky as shit, definitely more challenging, my least favourite of the series but its still good.
>>12387809It's pretty good. I also like Koudelka a lot, but that one is less of a traditional JRPG.
