why does this shitty unfinished campaign get so much praise
>>12387987The storytelling was unlike anything done before. No one could have guessed that you would play as another character.
>>12387987Why do you care? Let people enjoy things.
>>12387987gonna cry?
>>12387996is halo2 the first game ever that to that? that 10 years later in comicbook that twist is called "subverting your expectatives"?Didn't mgs with raiden do that? but raiden was more hated back then that the Arbiter?
>>12388003yeah MGS2 did that, and even earlier Chrono Trigger fucking killed the MC and reviving him is optional.
>>12387996explain why then because upon release most people thought it was dogshit. halo ce is still a better story, not a convoluted space soap opera kek. even if it was "innovative" as you're implying, it's still bad, tastelet.>>12387997because i cant think of another game's campaign that gets glossed over more for no reason>>12387998yeup, lets list why halo 2's campaign is ass>flat, uglier graphics>unfinished/cut chief levels>unwanted and lackluster arbiter missions and story fusion>bugs>dumber friendly AI>narrower levels>cuts weapons, unbalancedthe campaign was an unfinished mess and always feels that way. come on tastelets, lets hear it.
>>12387987Sacred Icon is pure kino. Best level in the game.
>>12387987It was fun, I do not know why Quakefags are incapable of understanding that.
>>12388216Giving all your elite bros energy swords for the final gondola stretch is always a good time.
>>12387987Halo 2 (Hype 2) budget>Development Cost: $40 million>Marketing Cost: $80 millionAs you can see, the Halo franchise is the McDonald's of the gaming environmentAmerican slop sells, just need tons of marketing and promotion.
>>12388250COD & Halo are just slop, and back then people used to unironically fight over which of their shitty slop was the best.
>>12387987Never heard any sort of praise for that half baked turd of a campaign.
>>12387996i completely understand liking halo for the game but storyfags all get the rope
>>12388434I've played every Halo campaign and I have *never* known or cared what was going on story wise.
>>12387987Because Arbiter and Gravemind are cool. Also falae prophet stories are always enjoyable.People care more about Halo 2's plot and such than the actual levels and such.Contrarians try to denigrate Combat Evolved but everyone knows it has the best campaign as-gameplay, regardless of what your friendless ass whines about.
>>12388434>>12388897You're just proclaiming how retarded you are.
>>12388015You are utterly deluded if you think people didn't appreciate being able to play as the bad guys this time 'round.
It was a huge step down from CEs campaign and the game took way too long to come out. The only redeeming thing about the game was a true online mode, which is what everyone remembers about Halo 2.The plots to these games were always ass after 1. At least the multiplayer was great, though I will always miss the CE pistol.
>>123891052's plot is great and would be agreed as significantly better than Combat Evolved's if the campaign wasn't worse
>>12387987If you know how to play it it's the most fun Halo campaign.
>>12388015It was loved on release and only after PC gamers seethed about it because they were stuck with half life 2 which in retrospect is a much worse game but they had to pretend it was above comparison.
>>12389119This. CE is a better game but Halo 2's story mogs.
>>12387987The only level I truly liked from this was Delta Halo. The rest all felt like on-rails set pieces.
>>12388015I pictured you typing this with tears in your eyes.
>>12388015>>dumber friendly AI
many people didn't like the campaign when the game came out. no one wanted to go to a new halo. no one wanted to play as the covenant (further driven home by the fact they greatly reduced the arbiter's role in 3). and to top it all off the campaign ends in the exact same spot as when you started it. but ultimately it doesn't matter because the multiplayer is what everyone really wanted
i really loved how small scale Halo 1 was, and how it takes place on this abstract kind of videogamey simplistic world. And then Halo 2 tries to be this big hollywood alien apocalypse plot and it just sucks. The story has a lot of stupid things in it. It just bit off way more than it could chew. Halo 2 would have been so much better if it wasn't trying to end the war the immediately and took place on a smaller scale world instead of this big finaleregardless, Halo was all about the coop and the slayer. It didnt really matter how much the story sucked the game was pure fun
>>12387987Mainly because life was brighter + more simple at the time and it was more Halo.
>>12388935The story on a Halo game is like blending fruits
>>12390020yeah, and nobody wanted to play as Roxas
>>12390160>And then Halo 2 tries to be this big hollywood alien apocalypse plot and it just sucks. You're the type of brainlet who thinks the prequels are bad.
>>12390160I concur with this 100%.It's a class example of thinking bigger = better and failing. Multiplayer improvements were great in terms of actually having online, but generally it was a competitive step down from Halo 1. It wasn't bad, just different, especially in the map design. But the story tried to be this huge dramatic thing, telling this tale of oppression, space racism, unity, and struggle all while introducing pants-on-head retarded shit like Gravemind. All this from a sequel to a game where an armored super solider fought two aggressive alien races trying to invade Earth. Did we really need to introduce politics into our antagonists and make them sympathetic while also doing the extremely tired and poorly done troupe of 'they're only bad because they have bad leaders'.Just like you said: it all felt very 'hollywood'.Also, the finale is rushed to all hell and the game abruptly ends on a wet fart.
