One of the weirdest platformers i've ever played
>>
It's Japanese Earthworm Jim 2. Platformer on the surface, but devs also threw in a bunch of new gameplay modes whenever they feel like it(though not to the degree of EWJ2)

Some of the puzzles were a bit hard to figure out without the internet because its a cultural type of game, like that one frog puzzle.

>Everybody who has an opinion on something obscure is just parroting e-celeb opinions!!!
Way to expose that you love e-celebs
>>
>>12388150
I bought this when I was in Japan. The first couple of levels of the game start off pretty good, but then it turns to shit. The puzzles are a bit obtuse for non-Japanese (and probably some even for Japanese, like the door maze one that's a pain in the ass).
>>
>>12388375
This is really reaching. Like you know about this but we don't and you're acting this way. Come on dude. Can you knock that shit off. Like generally on the board.
>>
>>12388375
>NOOOO you can only find out about obscure games by using methods that I approve
>NOOOO you can't have the same opinion as any other person on YouTube
>NOOOOOO you aren't allowed to discuss obscure games at all because maybe someone made a YouTube video about them
Choose your autism, anon.

>puzzles are a bit obtuse for non-Japanese
yeah that was where my struggle began, some of them aren't to tedious but as you go on you eventually have to use some guide, overall its quite a cutsie game visually though.

Should I even bother?

isn't it interesting how the incels that seethe over youtubers always seem to know what they're working on and what they're latest videos are? just thought that was worth pointing out

Why would somebody who shills weed and thinks superstars is good while saying thinking sonic 4 is good is the reason we get shit games (totally not contrarian) browse a dead board like this?
>>
>>12388215
>Some of the puzzles were a bit hard to figure out without the internet because its a cultural type of game, like that one frog puzzle.

As far as I remember all the levels are themed around classic children. You fight the goose that lays golden eggs, you rescue the Bremen musicians, and so on. I think the side scrolling shmup level had some solmization puzzle to determine the right path, but you can memorize that. If you ever read a collection of Grimm Tales you should be able to figure out everything easily.
>>
>>12390321
...anon please don't tell me you actually think sonic 4 is good

I don't, my argument was he's just a normie who is shilling drugs and has contrarian opinions, then this random guy comes along and derails the thread by saying i copied him because you can't make posts about games e-celebs have already made videos on apparantly.
>>
>>12390385
there's nothing contrarian about thinking sonic 4 is bad. it's a dung heap of a game with awful physics.
>>
>>12390413
Maybe I worded my complaint wrong, he said superstars was fine even though mostly everybody hated it and he didn't agree with the comparisons of it to sonic 4 even though they're justified, but in his sonic 4 video he said that "if you think sonic 4 isn''t that bad then you're the reason we get shitty games nowadays, because you think it wasnt that bad". Same logic can apply to his own sitting on the fence opinions about superstars, hence why i said he's contrarian.

It is a fun random find. That's probably why I had so much fun with the Saturn, as a lot of brand new games were on clearance, so I was able to take a gamble on all sorts of titles and they'd be fun enough for the price. Every now and then, I'd encounter a game I've not seen before like Elan Doree or GT24 and pick them up on the cheap just to see and I'd be pretty happy for the fun. Super Tempo was developed by Red Company which had a decent reputation at the time, so it wasn't much of a gamble. Admittedly weird gameplay, but good enough for me to explore the rest of the series.

JP game covers in general are SOVL incarnate
>>
>>12389883
Jr was easy but it was still a neat game with plenty of charm
>>
There were a couple of parts that were just a little too hard to figure out without knowledge of the language - I think I gave up at the quiz show shmup section because I just couldn't memorize the kanji for beethoven or whatever the fuck it was.

The genre switching was kind of fun but some of the boss fights (like where you play punch out with the pelican boss or whatever it was) could be annoying.

I like the game though I never beat it. I think with mednafen there's no reason not to try it.

I feel like with a lot of saturn hate, because you can now play any game free, and freely, there really isn't a reason to keep on seething over the library (or lack thereof?).

We need to make a running list of threads about obscure garbage which """coincidentally""" appear right after a ZoomTube video essay starts trending.
>>
>>12390424
He's correct and you're a faggot. You also just admitted to copying his video since you're intimately familiar with him and his opinions on various games. Go play in traffic retard.

It was entirely Charles's. Movement was clunky, the platforming in the levels was unfun and not thought out. They're more like mazes. There's no challenge whatsoever. The music is trash. It's legitimately one of the worst games I've ever played, and probably the worst game I ever completed because it mercifully only took an hour or so to finish
