REEEE... BACKTWACKING!
>Can finish the game without backtracking once.
But I MUST 100% everything whether required or not on a single level visit... just BECAUSE, OKAY?!
>>
>>12388758
Wasn't the first one like that too?
>>
>>12388758
If you didnt 100%, you didnt beat the game.
>>
>>12388768
and that's only if you did the 100% in a single session. if you paused or loaded the game, it's not a 1CC and you're a non-player.
>>

You could finish most of the areas in one go. The only exception was in Freezeezy Peak because you needed the speed shoes from the desert area. That was just for a single jiggy, though, so it gets a pass.Tooie was way more egregious.

>Tooie was way more egregious.
Which is why you only need 70/90 Jiggies to win, vs 94/100.
>>
>>12388875
BK had 100 jiggies total. You only needed 70 to complete the game. I never finished Tooie, so I don't know how it compares.
>>
>>12388891
BK takes 94, Tooie takes 70, but that one has only 90.

If the player has no way of knowing this, and of knowing what requires backtracking and what does not, then your point is completely invalid.

Freezeezy needs the speed shoes and Gobi needs the beak bomb, so you're forced to visit both levels twice.

You're guided toward doing Gobi first but it's better to do Freezeezy first instead since you literally only need the shoes for one jiggy challenge and nothing else, vs. Gobi where if I'm not mistaken you can't even get all the notes without the beak bomb.

Some people might say Bubblegloop Swamp needs the speed shoes too but just like, git gud lol.

All they have to do is get everything they can in each level before going to the next. If they're complaining about backtracking, they didn't look in the levels enough before moving on.

"Backtracking is le bad. GTA 3 10/10 game of the year, ditto for Morrowind next year" - critics
>>
>>12388758
i don't care for your meme argument, but tooie is arguably the best game of all time

It's a bit RNG without the shoes. You have to steal his targets so he accumulates points at a slower rate than you, but there's 0 delay on the re-pathing, so as soon as you eat one of his he can turn right around and land in a patch of reds spawned right that frame. He then clocks up 2 while you're surrounded by yellows. Next time that doesn't happen and you win. Makes it a weak challenge.

This game is absolutely incredible. One day it will get it's due credit once again.

It feels a generation ahead in game design, same with Perfect Dark.

Nothing in gaming feels quite like that point in Tooie where the first 4-5 worlds are finally 100% done and the big multi world Jiggies are finally falling into place.

Also goddamn I love the Isle O Hags theme
