Staying the night with my best friend who just got a SMS. New copy of Phantasy Star on deck. His parents ordered us pizza and a 2 liter of Pepsi. Ice cream sandwiches for dessert and snacking on Pringles throughout the night. Graph paper and pencils to map out the dungeons. Taking turns playing and mapping. The sun is just starting to rise and peeking through the blinds when we finally find Odin in the dungeon and yell waking up everyone in the house.
More so teen memories, but me and a friend staying up till dawn playing Turok Rage Wars and just doing coop versus raptor bots across every stage.
>>12389008I somehow never played Phantasy Star until last year despite owning a Master System all throughout my childhood. It's a great game. I had that other rpg Miracle Warriors instead which wasn't really all that good
Playing Resident Evil in late summer nights with the window opened, getting to the courtyard in the game and the in-game sounds mixing up perfectly with the sounds and atmosphere pouring in from the windowBirthday party, friend brings an NES four score and Super Off Road for 4 players actionNES Double Dragon 1/2/3 were also pretty much birthday parties mandatoriesFriend giving me Mission Impossible for NES on a birthday, few years later he also gave me Resident Evil 3 PSX for no particular reason other than he knew it'd be a good home for the games and he was right.

Summer of 95, my best friend's aunt and her new boyfriend took us to his place in Orlando for a weekend Disney vacation. I can't remember if he already had a Genesis there or if one of us brought ours but we spent a whole night playing co-op Streets of Rage 2 and making redheaded stepchild jokes at the Galsia enemies.
Playing NES games with my friend at his house. I was left alone for a few minutes, sitting on the floor and playing and suddenly feel his German Shepard forcing its snout under my arm looking for headpats."That's weird. He doesn't like being around strangers." Said my friend when he came back.
>>12389008Figuring out how to actually play Dragon Crystal on SMS with my brother.
>>12389016Yep, you posted it again. Thanks for contributing to the thread. Please watch your step on the way out.
Playing tony hawks skateboarding on PS1 while on cocaine for the first time in my life >SOMETIMES I WANNA THROW IT ALL AWAY
>>12390720I don't want to derail this thread into drug land but you just reminded me of that one time I played Super Mario Bros 3 on GHB. I spent about 10 mins dancing to this 5 seconds loophttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZMuGdql2Fug
>>12389008I mostly remember renting from blockbuster a lot of video game rentals at mom & pop stores and the times we got presents for christmas/birthdays. One time after going to the dentist for a cavity or something mom let me rent Chameleon Twist for N64 and I remember eating spaghetti for dinner almost choking. Fun game I beat over the weekend. I think I was spoiled as a kid and didnt get along with friends at school because they were jerks.

>>12390771Spent many hours of my childhood looking at games at Blockbuster, agonizing over what to rent with what little money I made from collecting cans and bottles. My coziest memories as a kid are playing vidya on the NES in the winter time with the snow falling outside the window and school cancelled. Dragon Warrior III stands out, and Fist of the North Star for some reason.
I had a genesis since my 6th birthday and don't remember ever renting a phantasy star game (2, 3 or 4 for genesis), nor remember reading about any of the original games in game mags or really ever hearing anyone talk about them in aol chatrooms circa 99-01. the only time I ever heard much about PS in magazines or websites was when phantasy star online was in the works or new. later on in the 00's when emulation like FF3 & 5, Sweet Home, Dragon Warrior 5 were more common, people would mention Phantasy Star more often but it still never really got a ton of attention that I noticed. all the said, I would definitely like to play and beat one of the original games or even PSO the offline version.
Got Pokémon Blue on christmas, a few days later one of the biggest storm to ever hit the country... Power goes out and I was playing by the window trying to catch some moonlight as I was fumbling my way through Rock Tunnel, a dark place in game.
