Ever lose all your progress in a game because of a corrupted save file?
Yes. Next question.
I ruined all my save states for over a dozen games when I finally allowed PCSX2 to be updated. No updates, NEVER again.
i accidentally wiped my brother's ps1 memory card when i unplugged the gameshark while it was on
I lost all my Steam screenshots in an OS reinstall, felt pretty bad honestly.
>>12390713how about 600 hours in F-Zero GX. man, that sucked.
>>12390718What game was it, and how much progress did you lose?
>>12390713Lost like 20 hours in Kingdom Hearts when the save icon turned into a blue cube on my memory card.Never went back to play it again after that
Fucking Dokapon on GBA. Got right up to the final dungeon with a full inventory of gear and healing items. The game crashes after a random encounter, file is corrupted permanently. It's a randomly-generated dungeon crawler so it would take me probably another 50 hours to do it all again. Fuck.
>>12390713Happened to me on fucking Zelda II. I'd beaten it before on the Zelda Collector's Edition on GameCube, and then I got an actual NES copy and almost made it to the Great Palace. However, I was kinda drunk and forgot to press Reset before turning it off, and that corrupted the shit out of the file, so that if I tried playing on that file, it resulted in heavy graphical glitches and most of my progress having seemingly been wiped. (I think I retained some levels and magic, but that's it). Serves me right, I guess.
>>12390735no, next question
>>12390721>No updates, NEVER again.Based MAME 0.95-coded anon.
>>12390721>save states on ps2deserved.
>>12390713I didn't know GameCube memory cards were region locked so when I played a jap cube game my whole shit got wiped out
>>12390713I was playing Incubation and my HD suddenly died. I guess I'll have to return to it some day.
>>12390863highly based. Incubation isn't a very long game, you could probably beat it in a weekend.
More than once on PS2 thanks to that bug with Soul Calibur 3.
I had to replay the first world of Spyro A Hero's Tail like 8 or 9 times because it kept corrupting my save file somehow. I got really good at speedrunning through those first bunch of levels.
>>12390713Yeah. Had a friend I'd let borrow my games in high school and without fail he'd manage to corrupt my files or accidentally save over them.
>>12390713Yu-Gi-Oh! Dark Duel Stories on GBC because VBA glitched out... thankfully after switching to mGBA I didn't have any issues.
>>12390745>Fucking Dokapon on GBAman, the game itself is already annoying, so i can feel you.
>had a bootleg NES/SNES hybrid console growing up>stupid thing regularly ate save files>trying to play chrono trigger, 25+ hours into that son of a bitch>turned it off for school, come back a couple hours later>all fucking goneI've never came back to finish it.
>>12390713Yes, Wario Land 3,At least once, maybe twice, I turned on my GBC to find "Continue" missing from the title screen, making me start from scratch. No clue why, it wasn't that I was turning off the game mid-save, but maybe there was a flaw in the saving procedure.Earthworm Jim 3D also was prone to save corruption. I'm pretty sure the issue was that when you save the game, the "save complete" message was displaying too early, and turning off the N64 quickly after that meant you were interrupting the save-in-progress.
I was replaying Pokémon XD on my GameCube this past summer and forgot I left the game running for like 5 hours and my memory card overheated. I was right about to fight Greevil too.
Beyond Good and Evil on Xbox, it happened to a lot of people and it always corrupted almost at the end.
>>12390794I quit games the moment I feel like quitting them. Not gonna force myself to play 20 minutes to find a save point because that's fucking retarded.
>>12391239you can always pause them and come back later
Final Fantasy 7 and I still haven't gone back to beat the game to this day
>>12390881Are there any other games to watch out for that could possibly corrupt your memory card saves like this? Good thing you reminded me to check my old memory card and sure enough there was an old SC3 save so I deleted it just to be safe so I dont lose my other saves… Noooooooo jk
>>12390713I lost a 50 hour monster hunter save so I downloaded some guys 90 hour save. Same thing with dragon quest 8.You can find save files online or save editors for lots of games
>>12390727Me too sorry bro I accidentally deleted his SNES Mario All Stars save file by turning the power off wrong. He spent so much time it took him months to beat Mario Lost Levels I remember how mad and he was with me sorry bro I was so stupid sorry if I lost your save please forgive me. If I was a better bro I would have replayed the entire game to get your save file back.
>>12391218do you remember what your team was
>>12390713Yes
>>12391267lol I think I heard this story before, was your bro a gamefaqs poster?
>>12390713Many times, although some of them have been soft-locks and me not understanding how to properly configure an emulator; once I thought I had wiped a memory card when all I did was change the directories and I couldn't find it.>>12391260I did this for Tomb Raider 2. I was trying to do a tricky backflip from some ladder in the oil rig and I saved mid-air instead of loading. Dumb me learned that day to keep multiple saves in a game afterwards.
>>12391269Electrode Dusclops Sharpedo Breloom Xatu Camerupt
>>12390713all the time
>>12390713yes. I beat FFX up to Sin. I never beat Sin though
>>12390713Pokemon, likely because I was glitch abusing it.Also I lost my FFVII save near the end of the game when my dad fucked up the computer (surprisingly not from downloading cheesy pizza).
>>12390713Not only my SC3 campaign save, but everything elseFuck NAMCO.
i mean, yeah. i've been playing the vidya since i was 3 years old, in 1988. i've had tons of data just fucking gone. if it was a file I've put a lot of effort into, i might put the game in time out for a while, but in general i just start a new file and have fun with the game all over again. picrel has been my philosophy for almost my entire life.
I've finished Tales of the Sword Coast and once I arrived at Baldur's Gate my hard disk died. Never touched the game since.
