It is a very cozy game but the story and dialogue are meh. The combat and class systems are actually decent in the latter half and let's you experiment a bit.I like that if you target an enemy and they die before your turn it doesn't auto target another enemy. You've got to know how many hits different enemies will take and pay attention.Great music, nice visuals.

what is actually good about it though? does it have a good story, characters, battle system, puzzle? does it have optional locations and side quests to discover? I need a new jrpg to play but I need something with pizazz

The characters are not interesting in the slightest.There are integrated puzzles in the dungeons and town for finding hidden shit. There are loads of hidden treasures around. You use battle abilities outside of battle to manipulate things.There's even a hidden endgame dungeon with a superboss (deadbeard) that can take 10+ minutes.There are djinn monsters you collect that give you abilities and change character classes. In combat if you summon a djinn it could drop your class mid combat until the djinn recovers. The battles are quick and responsive.There are moments where there will be slightly hidden paths to backtrack and do new things in older places with your new abilities.It's just kinda pleasant, the music and colors are nice. Though it takes a while for the systems to get interesting. Much better with a key to toggle a speed boost for the slow dialogue sections.

>>12397115First two are great, but there are a lot of things to filter people that aren't the difficulty. When appreciated though they're some of the (but not THE) best handheld RPGs that would be allowed on this board. Always like when people can enjoy them despite their issues.
