The versions which emphasize the horns in the track are way way better.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BmrWINiVOu4The arcade version of the theme kinda sucks for this reason.Don't disagree with me. I'll punch you in the nose.
>>12398508They tried to show off the snes by having it sound like real instruments, while the original track is rather synthy. Yes, that's why I like the SNES score a lot more than the others.
The REAL version is the best.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XkjBrCLvwc0

>>12398659I think it's just what that dev team was hearing on the radio at the time. Like maybe they had it on a jazz station during development to ease their minds. Or what Yoko Shimomura was listening to, who knows.
>>12398604Guile theme is a huge improvement tho
>>12398734I mean Ken's theme is pretty blatantly based on Cheap Trick's Mighty Wings
>>12399765lot of koji kondo's tunes are ripped off old western music, probaly why he never composes anything any more
>>123999132bf a lot of Japanese composers did this. Kondo is busy supervising/teaching the new guard
>>12398508For me its the 3DO versionhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=by_41WVlhgU
>rip off Beethoven's Symphony No. 24 for video game orchestral track #826I CRIED WHEN I HEARD THE LEITMOTIF KICK IN>rip off "Let's Not Talk About It" for the underground theme in Super Jumpman Bros<_<
>>12399925He too was inspired by T-Square.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8W1yY2nCz0
>>12398508Serious question: are you latino?
>>12399003I don't know about an improvement, but even though it may well have been a strong inspiration, Guile's theme is much more fitting for a high energy fighting game than the T-square song (which sounds more like something you'd have heard in MvC2).Even normal musicians often take obvious direct inspiration from other songs, so it shouldn't be surprising that videogame composers do the same, especially since, particularly back in the day, they had to pump out a lot of music in a very short period of time. Some might have been fully intentional, some might have been instances of them having an inkling of an idea for a song without even realizing they were actually thinking of a specific song they'd heard on the radio, and never realized it during the 8 hours of time they had to put in to composing the song.
>>12400080One of the best songs is played in 11/8, you know what I'm talking about.
>>12400410I'm not sure he does.
>>12398734Yoko gets sheepish when she talks about the SF2 soundtrack, because she knows a lot of it is not very original.
>>12398508I still don't understand why SNES couldn't get Super Turbo but the bumfuck 3DO did, they even ported Alpha 2 semi-competently
>>12401765Alpha 2 was black magic. Unrepeatable.
>>12401765Yoshiki Okamoto says a "golf course deal" was made by Kenzo Tsujimoto and the 3do guys, out of his control. He wanted ST on the SNES.
>>12401995So, the 3DO guys treated them to a night of sake and whores. Whatever gets shit done I suppose.
>>12402360>So, the 3DO guys treated them to a night of sake and whores. It would take quite a lot more than that to buy of Tsujimoto, who would have been either billionaire by that time period, or nearly there.
