Give me a dam good reason why I shouldn't purchase Pokemon RedFire/LeafGreen for only $20 on Switch when this is the only other alternative...
>>
Why pay Nintendo $20 for a rom when you can download and keep in your hard drive forever?
>>
>>12399067
>when this is the only other alternative...
bro never heard of an emulator lmao
>>
>>12399067
>no other alternative
zoomoids are less tech literate than literal boomers.
>>
If you want a physical game cart you can buy chink bootlegs off AliExpress for like $5.
>>
Wait, Nintendo is letting you purchase actual roms on switch? Instead of requiring you to subscribe? And it's a sort of mainline pokemon game?
>>
>>12399067
>paying for 1kb roms
You do you, lil bro
>>
>>12399094
>sold separately
>$20 each
>>
Because you can't connect the switch version to the gamecube games
>>
It's funny to me how demand for old Pokemon games is apparently so high as to justify exorbitant prices for loose carts, despite the franchise consistently having massively high sales.
>>
I am of the opinion that anyone who doesn't emulate something like this is actually retarded. The devs don't see any money if you buy used anyway. You can have an emulator and leaf green running on a 10 y.o. Android in 3-5 minutes for free and these games run pretty well emulated.
How much is money (potentially equating to your time) worth to you? Nothing?
>>
>>12399132
Learning how to emulate games and torrent shit unironically changed my life when I was a kid.
Zoomers have had access to the internet for their entire lives and still don't know how to use a fucking computer. It's baffling.
>>
>>12399067
Because it's digital only, so it's no different than just downloading the ROM online. Plus, you won't be able to complete the Pokedex if you play it on Switch because you won't be able to connect with Ruby/Sapphire or the Gamecube games.

You don't need to buy an overpriced cartridge. You also don't need to pay $20 for a ROM.

You can get a chink handheld for like 40-70$ and play this and literal thousands of other games on something that absolutely mogs and shits on Nintendo's official emulation.

LeafGreen confirmed more valuable than FireRed.

The power of Starmie and Magmar.
>>
>>12399161
Specifically Starmie.
Illuminate ability is very handy if you're into shiny hunting and Staryu/Starmie is the only Pokemon in FRLG with it.
Also, kids obviously preferred the Charizard over gayflower so there's more FR cartridges floating around overall.

They have only ever experienced the curated, walled garden of Social Media through their phones and big phones. Most do not even own a proper PC.

Millennials will be the most and last tech capable generation, the future is going to be nothing but 80IQ plebs renting streaming RAM from Amazon and paying a subscription to breathe
>>
>>12399203
The odd thing to me is that you can install emulators and roms the same way on (Android) phones as you do on PC. I've been doing N64/SNES/PSX/GBA emulation and hooking up controllers since the Galaxy S3 (SIII).
It's sad to see.

If you ever have an option that is to buy a download, you might as well pirate it. It's not like you are even getting anything for your money.
>>
>>12399132
I don't give a fuck if the original devs see a penny.
>>
>>12399131
It doesn't matter if the supply is high, it's a game literally every single collector wants and nobody wants to give theirs away until they give up collecting altogether. So it sells at a premium. Not actually hard to understand you disingenous jew.
>>
>>12399537
anon, it's pokemon, it's not even that good
>>
I like that price I was able to trade my copies of soulsilver and black for a sega saturn, dreamcast, and some other things
>>
>>12399094
Gamefreak/TPC/whoever-the-fuck is really autistic about how mainline Pokemon games are presented to the public. They won't let Nintendo add mainline Pokemon games to a subscription service and they won't let Nintendo release them in any form that can't be made compatible with Pokemon Home. In their minds, playing a Pokemon game where the pokemon you catch are trapped and can't be moved into other Pokemon games is some kind of sacrilege they refuse to abide. That's why Pokemon Stadium is on NSO but not Red and Blue.
>>
>>12399476
Neither do I, so why pay them again for a game I bought 20 years ago when I could emulate?
I just figured that's a reason that stops some prudes from emulation.
>>
>>12399651
Yet people still buy it.
>>
>>12399140
Honestly a pretty solid argument. You’re paying for a worse experience
>>
>>12399203
It isn't so much generational. It is this when millennials were using their PCs to connect to the internet there was an intelligence threshold. iOS and android demolished the threshold. Most of the activity on the internet is almost completely devoid of requiring any intelligence.

I remember when MAME was a new thing and the gui wrappers didn't yet exist. People were debating how they structure their folders and bat files for launching games. Now, people can't figure out how to download roms and place them in the right folder.

The threshold lowered and retards are everywhere. Let them pay for their online subscriptions, they wouldn't be able to figure simple shit out any way you cut it.
>>
It's worth $20 to not have to unbox my GBA collection. Plus all my pokemon crap is stored somewhere else.
I'd love to delude myself into thinking that Nintendo will see all those $20 bills and begin releasing more games for purchase but I doubt it. It at least it's not a timed deal like fire emblem a few years ago.
>>
>>12399775
It's worth zero dollars when it's a 22 year old ROM that you've already paid for once.

Absolutely peak laziness. What would be harmed by modifying the games to have multiple languages just like any other Switch game? They're already going to add Pokemon Home functionality, so it's not like they're being 100% purist about the release to begin with.
>>
>>12399067
Your pictures of it will let you imagine that you're impressing strangers on the internet.

The ability to keep the Game Corner, I think.

Threadly reminder that if you pay Nintendo's subscription service, you have obtained a license to download those games.
>>
>>12399067
I play these for free on my phone
>>
>>12399980
Ill do you one better, since Nintendo is plagiarizing themselves by making a shitty remake you are entitled to download these remakes for free if you previously purchased the original rgb.
>>
>>12399993

I unironically believe that.
>>
>>12399138
I'm a 1999 zoomer and I picked up on torrenting and using emulators around the age of 10 or 11. I think it's the younger ones born mid-2000s and later that only know touch screens and nothing else. But I've also noticed that Nintendo fans in particular are terrified of emulation and think Mario will personally kick down their door and blow their parents heads off like in the movie Martyrs.

They are 100% banking on whales buying the same game 10 times to pwn the palworld haters or something.
>>
>>12400034
Moves like this make me believe that Nintendo has totally run out of gas. They have no ideas left and will milk their IPs like redheaded step cows.
>>
>>12399067
Keep this in mind at least.
You're getting charged $10 more for old Pokemon games than the 3DS Virtual Console ones for no reason other than that Nintendo knew people would willingly pay that price. Please think for yourself and don't let others tell you this is the "only other alternative".
>>
>>12400039
Unless Nintendo unveils some mind blowing holodeck experience, or even something that approaches it, I'm out and not buying any new game consoles ever again. Between my Switch 1, PC, and hacked Wii, I already can do nearly everything my Gen X heart desires, so I won.
>>
For me, it's a ROM file I "legitimately dumped off of my personal cartridge" and VisualBoyAdvance for the true late 2000s kid experience.
>>
>>12399079
What do you expect when all they've used are phones & tablets?
>>
All this talk of kids not knowing how to use a computer makes me wonder: do they not have computer labs at schools anymore? Not that I'd expect them to be anything less than completely locked-down by now.
>>
>>12399815
maximum extraction. very impressive
>>
>>12400207
>do they not have computer labs at schools anymore?
No, not even typing class. They mostly just work on touchscreen tablets now.
>>
>>12400245
Do they expect offices in the future to move to tablets or something?
>>
>>12400249
>future
>offices
>workers
lol, we're banking on AI doing everything so we can exterminate the bottom 90% of the useless eaters, we're just grifting them with shiny things to keep them distracted in the meantime
>>
>>12399746
There were a few cultural turning points in the 2000s that opened the internet to the layman.
>>
>>12399067
>No physical option
>if there is, its or a DL code or a Gamekey
>its a 20yr+ old game, no rereleased GBA game on any platform should cost that much.

theres dozens of game compilations for modern plats, most of them have GBA games, and those are well priced, if they are selling 2 versions of a game like they are doing, those versions should be priced $2.50 each AT MOST!
>>
>>12400434
Everything in this picture was bound to happen, the real question is how long could the inevitable have been held back?

just get a flash cart if you want to play on nintendo hardware. i will never play a pokemon game on an original cartridge ever again and risk losing a save file. a flash cart is cheaper than buying the actual game and will let you back up your saves.

There is an element of this yes. I know men older than me (so late 30s, early 40s) that are massive Nintendo cattle and refuse to emulate. It's either the aversion to learning or desire for convenience I swear.

Or

The only justification for the NSO roms costing anything at all is if they'd contain all of the Japan-only Ereader content and working real-time clock for the Mirage Island.
>>
>>12399067
Because you can download the rom of it for free onto any device including Nintendo Devices for free and play superior fan updates instead of being a retarded autist that should be executed by the state and wasting your money?
>>
>>12399067
Normally I'd say if you don't want to get the ROM and emulate you should pay for the original, but this is Pokemon. Unless you were born in the age it released or got lucky later down the line, you're fucked.
Just buy the Switch version. You moron.
