I didn't play this generation, did you? What did you think of it?
Ruby and Sapphire were awesomeDidn't care for FireRed and LeafGreen at the time, but they grew on meEmerald is great if you didn't already play Ruby or Sapphire
Played Ruby for the first time last year, kinda meh honestly.
It was the last good generation of pokemon games. I was young enough to play it before the older kids grew out of the series but was old enough to remember the height of pokemania. It is the most appealing generation to actually go all out in, with the two different handheld series and the two gamecube games and the jirachi bonus disc and so on. But it is also the hardest generation to go all out in today and it's hard to invest that amount of time as an adult. To this day it is conceptually still my favorite generation, but I would much rather pick up Pokemon Stadium and play RBY than either gen 2 or 3. That's not an indictment against either generations but more an indictment against my laziness. My favorite gen 3 pokemon is chimecho btw

best pokemon gen
>>12399443The gen 1 remakes are good. The actual gen 3 original games are shit.
Im thinking I would love to pay twenty (20) dollars per language to play these games again.
>>12399443theres 20 other pokemon threads in the catalog, when you pop over to this board from instagram or /v/ you should look at what threads are up before making a shitty new one.
I liked that Meowth/Persian could find items in the wild and make my PP grow That's about the only thing I liked better than the originals
>>12399443Did you not play it because you were too busy blogging on the 4chin?
I was going to say that restricting trading with other games until the post game was one of the dumbest decisions this series ever had, but then I remembered the dex cut, but then I decided that I still think the trade restrictions in gen 3 were worse.>nooooo you can't just trade your caterpie for his wurmple that will mess up your pokedex you have to play for 200 hours and complete the side quest first >:(Nobody fucking cared. And let me evolve my goddamn golbat nobody cares about that either. At the very least they realized how fucking stupid that all was and dropped the trade restrictions in gen 4 and 6's remakes, but holy fuck was it annoying getting cockblocked from trading with people that didn't unlock it in FRLG or Emerald.
>>12399443not as magic as previous generations but interesting non the less

IMO gen 3 is when pokemon actually came into its own. And me saying that is completely biased because it's when I first started seriously getting into pokemon, but I stand by it. RBY and GSC are classics, but they were also janky as shit and held together with spaghetti code. Gen 3 is when things really started getting polished. The whole thing was a big reset, fundamental differences in code that prevented cross compatibility, and so on. Which definitely sucked at first with how you had to wait for FRLG and Colosseum to get a lot of the kanto/johto pokemon, but in terms of the each game standing on its own, the gen 3 games were simply better than the previous generations.
