he was absolutely correct, though

Yeah we need a fast-paced game like Ocarina of time with 2 hours of unskippable cutscenes, where every fight is about circle strafing around an enemy until he reveals his weak spot, and where you are constantly interrupted by Navi or a little cinematic showing the effect of the switch you just stepped on or a fucking owl, and changing the water level in the Water Temple

Who said that? The dead guy? Or are americans using "shot" wrong again?
>>

it's from the top one where a black kid beat up a teacher for supposedly confiscating his switch, i guess the image is trying to say the white kid was justified since he actually did get his switch taken
>>
>>12401392
Top is another incident and is quoting the teacher who was nearly beaten to death by the black individual, the Switch owner.
The lack of RPG games, which help develop empathy and emotions through rich stories, is a major reason behind these tendies attacks

I think you need to understand where he's coming from. This is a guy who runs a major Japanese company and plays Go. He has a very good understanding of what interesting strategy gameplay is like and actually prefers this over playing action games, which he sees as a product he wants to be high quality for the sake of his business, rather than something he wants to play himself.

Enter the JRPG. This creature is very unlike the games Yamaguchi likes and approves of. It seems to have mechanics that suggest tactical depth, but instead of positioning, bluffing, or anything that would enable this, you have drawn out genre fantasy text, numbers that increase just from doing basic, skilless tasks, and abilities that consist of stuff like "fire attack 2", which does the same thing as "ice attack 1" but does double base damage and +25% extra to ice enemies. You will never, ever want to not use this against ice enemies once you have it, but all the old abilities still sit in your menu making it look like you have tons of meaningful options even if they don't matter.

The RPG is not simply slow, it's slow in a way that appeals to dull people who aren't interesting in creatively thinking through problems, and would rather have a game that congratulates them for doing absolutely basic tasks dressed up as something more complicated for 10 hours straight, while in no way testing their abilities or understanding beyond knowing how to select healing magic and equip stuff.

When he claimed that Ocarina of Time would be better than FFVIII he had every reason to be confident he was right.

>shot doesn’t mean killed
It can mean literally ANYTHING from being shot AT to shot DEAD. At least brits have the common sense to have headlines like BLOKE GIBBED OVER NINTENDO SENPAI GOBSMACKED HE A GOOD LAD, SAYS MUM OF SEVEN
>>
>>12401532
And no matter how sub-optimal you are at utilizing a given game's stat/ability systems, you can always grind more to make number go up.

This is great for people who enjoy fiddling around in menus trying to make stuff a bit more effective. If they succeed at this in some way, they get the satisfaction of feeling a bit clever. But if they don't succeed at actually selecting clever optimal combinations of stuff, well it doesn't ultimately matter because you can always compensate with a bit more grind. So either way, you get to feel clever and that you earned enough stuff to progress no matter how little you took advantage of the new ability/stat mechanics that only appear in this game and will immediately get dropped for a new novelty for the next one, instead of refining those mechanics to add depth to them (because lol, you expect people who play this series to be interested in depth over gimmicky novelty?).

Is he really that unique for thinking the water temple sucks?
>>
>>12401708
I think he refers to "muh waiting" which was indeed an egoraptor thing (especially when you don't need to wait in battles if you don't suck, which egoraptor ended up admitting and apologized for)
>>
What a garbage thread.

>>12401708
Water Temple is a pleb filter. Most people who have issues with it are directionally challenged and end up raising/lowering the water level way more than required. Also the people who missed the key beneath the central tower and thought their game was soft locked. It's a well designed dungeon if you're not a complete brainlet.
>>12401719
This too. It's unbelievable to me that people play through all of Ocarina of Time without using deku nuts, hookshot, bombs etc on enemies.
>>
>>12401725
The problem with the Water Temple is that it takes so fucking long to test a hypothesis.
>>
>>12401492
why was he charged with homicide then retard
>>
>>12401379
Man was a genius, I think he even had the right idea with the Gamecube, he was just too prophetic and too early, and it was a terrible business decision.
>The more amazing graphics and sound you put into a game, the longer it takes to finish. Not just a year, but now, more like a year and a half or two years. So then your development costs balloon, and when you finally put it out you have zero guarantee of it selling.
>>
>>12401754
Not having it use DVDs or something with equivalent capacity while still using small disks was a serious misstep. It cemented the idea that it was a toy console where any ports would have to be cut down to fit into it, when the others made sure to appeal to the teenage audience that was buying games at that point.
>>
>>12401380
he was, and I don't even take offense to it as an RPG enjoyer.

I guess they did a seance then?

Reminder that when presented with a gamepad to play the FamiCom port of Gomoku, this retard ordered his secretary to play the game for him by barking out orders like a retired mobster boss that he undeniably was.
>>
>>12402297
Yep, supposedly picrel was the only videogame he ever actually "played"

And yet these days, nobody care about the PS2 or Xbox while the GameCube is the most sought-after and desirable console from the generation.

Yamauchi-san won.
