How come everyone ignores the OSSC Pro in favor of the Retrotink 5X? The OSSC is comparatively cheaper relative to features, and is just plain better when it comes to granular tweaking of settings. Is there something I’m missing? I’m hovering between choices but I can’t really see why I should buy the cheaper-looking product that doesn’t even have a screen when this exists.Feel free to babble and argue about any scalers ITT
>>12401621I'm rocking a Framemeister, they're cheap now
>>12401634I would too, there’s just this one problem of resolution switching since I’m a big PS1 guy. Of course I could fix that by getting a GBS-C and save money, but I’ve been fiddling with video for a handful of years now and I’m at the point where I want to buy high-end stuff ie. Framemeister and up.
YouTubers sucking RetroTink dick, that’s the only reason. Endless parroting, and now you even have retards buying RetroTink 4K without understanding what it does
>>12401710Yeah it's a real bitch with sync drops. If I run things through a line doubler first it helps a lot.
There’s a GBS-C Pro now, anyone tried it?
>>12401621Retrotink5x made it to the market first right? I got a tink5x because my OSSC sucked for PS2's 480i and I haven't needed to upgrade since. I looked at the OSSC Pro's product page and it says it has motion adaptive deinterlacing so I guess if my tink5x ever breaks I could try out the OSSC Pro
I still own a sony trinitron crt but in the near future I want to get rid of it for convenience reasons. Are these scalers actual alternatives and if not how far are we away? price is not an issue for me, it just needs to be as accurate to the crt experience as possible. that includes stuff like input lag.
>>12401621>How come everyone ignores the OSSC Pro in favor of the Retrotink 5X?Everyone doesn't. I ignore them all equally. Must be a poorbaby thing.
>>12401962You'd be fine with any of the high-end modern scaler options.
A chinese Retroscaler2x tink clone will solve all your problems for 40 bucks shipped. But feel free to spend hundreds to get your console hooked up to a HDMI TV.
OSSC Pro is ignored because for that price you get yourself a Morph 4k. If you 'just need' 1080p or similar of 4:3 you get OSSC or one of the tens of other cheap scalers far under OSSC Pro prices. The 5x also "just works" which for morons is perfect, the OSSC Pro "granular" nonsense offers nothing worth having for those that need more than the OSSC but want 4kOSSC Pro not being 4k is the problem. Retards are paying $350+ for a device that is competing with device from 10+ years ago, pathetic retardation. Get a Morph 4k.
>>12401716it remasters your games in 4k using AI, of course.what a wonderful product.
>>12402048RetroScaler 2X is the best thing the chinese have ever done for retro gaming
>>12402050>If you 'just need' 1080p or similar of 4:3 you get OSSC or one of the tens of other cheap scalers far under OSSC Pro prices. No you don’t, retard.
I'm not buying a scaler at these prices. I'll check back in 10 years and see if they are reasonable.
>>12402048The problem is it won’t. Resolution switching games require a GBS-C at the very least, easily $100 spent. Unless you just use a scaler for recording, in which case input lag doesn’t matter and you can just get a generic scaler that circumvents resolution switches for $20, making the 2x scalers and clones seem redundant.
>>12402050>Retards are paying $350+ for a device that is blah blah blah get a Morph 4kWell, if you don’t need 4K for your 240p games, it would be absolutely idiotic to spend those same $350 (the Morph 4K costs more by the way) on a shitty lower-quality no-name device that no one cares about compared to a refined product like the OSSC Pro.
>>12402332>open source hardware>refined productlol come on anon
>>12401621I think that's just the 5X was available before Markus finalized the Pro. At the time, a decent amount of the OSSC Pro features were available through his own DExx project, which turns the DE10 Nano most people had into a sort of OSSC Pro "lite" as it is missing a lot of the inputs the full bespoke Pro could offer. If you have a DE10 Nano already, and you seem to want a screen, there are pins along the opposite side of the SCART input (for the v1.4 revision of the board) for that option if you're looking to save money. However you will be missing out on the expansion port of the real OSSC Pro if you desire legacy inputs such as S-video, composite, or RF.
>>12401939Pretty sure they just forked GBS-CONTROL and made a custom board that added extra inputs and a remote or some shit
>>12402281The FPGA chips are what’s expensive but there may be technical revelation by then
>>12403321my fate is to make cancerous shitposts
>>12401939Waiting for mine to come in the mail, still stuck in China. Though it seems like the consensus online is that the GBS-C Pro has the same firmware and performance of the normal GBS-C units like the McBazel, it just has some extra inputs tacked on that may or may not work correctly. People seem to especially have trouble with the S-Video on N64. I just got it because it was around the same price as the normal GBS-C during a sale so why not.
>>12401716>retards buying RetroTink 4K without understanding what it doesoutput your retro consoles in 4Kwhoa....
>>12401621OSSC is super but I was not able to scale up "720x480" thrice... the LED stayed red.
>>12403593and what else?
>>12403831who cares?
