Is there a bigger sign of terminal contrarianism and profound mental retardation than preferring Zelda 2?It's like we wrapped all the way around from "it's unplayable kuso with no redeeming qualities" to an even more ridiculous extreme that it's somehow better than Zelda 1 and ALTTP despite being a downgrade in nearly every conceivable way (looks worse, sounds worse, worse combat, worse hitboxes, less creative enemy designs, worse exploration/overworld, shitty jarpig grinding crap in an action game, obtuse progression and terrible translation, obnoxious magic system that encourages skipping right past enemies, etc.)
I think people have a new appreciation for it and other games of this style (Simon's Quest, Faxanadu, etc) because of how much DNA they share with modern action RPGs.I hated it at the time but coming back to it I enjoy it a lot outside of the egregious hidden village and random guy you need to find in the forest.I wouldn't rank it above LoZ or ALttP but it's a solid game and doesn't really deserve it's negative reputation

I miss the days when sequels didn't want to "rip you off" by simply giving you the same game but slightly better, resulting in experimental departures from the first popular game.
