It would seem to be that. I'm of the impression that he believes his politics resulted in him getting shut out of the mainstream industry, so I'd assume there's an element of schadenfreude.
At this point it seems pretty clear that his artistic ambitions are largely dead and all he cares about is pumping out YouTube clickbait slop for boomers.
