Sometimes I like to pick a random game and use game genie codes to go out of bounds or mess with the game any way I can. Usually I don't find anything interesting (just glitched out to look like ancient ruins here in Who Framed Roger Rabbit) but I once found a glitchy boss on the first level of Time Lord (isn't supposed to have a boss).

im not much of a game genie code guy but I spent a lot of time going out of bounds in halo1/2 back in the day. being vaguely aware of speedrunning can also teach you a lot of cool sequence breaks, big fan of a good ol sequence break.

I had a friend in high school who was so shameless that he got genuine enjoyment out of using codes to make himself invincible while going against us in multiplayer games like Twisted Metal. One time I agreed to play him like that in (I think) TM3 but only if we could also use the code that makes explosions knock you further than usual and I was actually able to beat him a decent amount by knocking him so far into the air with ricochet bombs that he flew out of the invisible barrier/graphics in the sky and died despite being unable to receive damage normally.

Yeah, I used to experiment with MK2 and MK3 glitches looking for new ways to break the game. The bug when you spam Cage's fireballs made some interesting fatalities.

I wish I could remember what they were but I have vague memories of finding weird glitches in MK1 for SNES. Some involved Subzero's lame freezing fatality which I think are well known but I remember one that was specific to the throne room stage and it creeped me out at the time.

I find it's a good way to bring some enjoyment back to a game you've played to death. Walk through walls, flying/multi-jump, anything that allows you to travel to places you normally can't and see things you normally could not. Some games are more fun to glitch around in than others. You can travel to some glitchworlds in Batman, but you tend to get stuck quickly, and just traveling beyond the usual barriers is very likely to trigger a stuck, so there's not much fun to be had. Meanwhile in Dragon Warrior 3 you can use travel through walls to effectively teleport around to just about everywhere.
I highly recommend checking out cheats for arcade games in MAME. I had a lot of fun exploring around the four levels in Prop Cycle without the timer counting down.

Yeah those are the exact codes I look for (also invincibility in case I need to travel through spikes or lava or something) and way back in the 90s I found this weird ass glitch by walking through one of the bookshelves in Zeal playing Chrono Trigger. I remember finding a single youtube video of it and it didn't seem to be well known. I'll have to try the MAME thing. Haven't really explored cheats in arcade games, also the Master System but I'm not familiar with how they're done on that.
