You know the whole "holding down + B increases your rate of a pokeball working" thing? Our school's version of that was that you had to enter a half-circle on the top part of the D-Pad while the ball was wiggling. The idea was that you were mimicking pressing down on the top of the ball to keep the monster inside. The entire gesture had to be done exactly at the right time during the wiggling animation to work. Whenever we saw someone try it and it failed, we justified it by saying they'd either done it too early or too late.
