50 Year Old Magical Girl EditionDon't forget to wish the birthday girl a happy one.
>>12421174Absolute HAG
>>12421174Happy birthday Natsune.I suppose she should look more like her mom now.
The PC-98 doujin scene is something that needs to be researched. I bet there are hundreds of games nobody ever recorded existence of.
>>12422208They keep adding some to archive.org. The thing is most of them aren't very good.
>implying the jannies won't autosage it again the moment it becomes too heterosexual for them
>>12424105Easy solution, just keep it balanced.
>>12424105No need for autosage to be fair. These threads struggle even if they are about japuters in general. You'd NEET a blogposter.
>>12426150The gameas are all in Japanese, and are often slideshows or spreadsheets. Because they couldn't do smooth scrolling well they tended to focus on static images. They often employed real artists who worked in anime or manga to create the images, and thus it represents something that fans of retro anime are quite nostalgic for even without having experienced it directly. Thsu there's an allure. But it's spreadsheets, dating sims, adventure games, etc. that are all in japanese. Often with piss poor writing or ripping off popular movies or tv shows and have limited interactivity. Some are downright movie games, but don't tell a story worth a shit.
>>12426347Personally I like messing with more amateurish titles (west or east). No matter the genre you can still feel their respecitve nerd culture of the time. The censors obviously had less of a hold on things too, which outside of porn, helps edgy plots as well.I do have some MZ-2X00 gayming lined up, but I highly doubt I'll get something worth blogposting about.
>>12426574wire frame?
Been playing this. The beginning locks you into a party where you have to chat with everyone through tons of options. Then after two hours of that and two more guests arrive and it's another hour of chat rounds. Seems like a terrible way to start a game, but most that stick with it talk about it positively.
>>12426574That's pretty smart to do B&W as you only need to do draw on one plane, and use the text VRAM for the HUD.And I assume there is an efficient Bresenham algorithm, planar edition, for the wireframe.

I really want to try out that YU-NO game since it seems good from what everyone says. Also would like to download those Legend of Heroes and Farland games.
>>12429345Just get the windows Yu-no version?
>>12429365I prefer playing the original version. It seems like a 2000 windows version cut out a scene or something from what I looked up real quick.
>>12429405>An English-language fan-made translation patch for the Windows version was released in September 2011 by TLWiki. As well as the translation, it provides re-inserted voices from the Sega Saturn version, explicit sex scenes, Ryu Umemoto's original FM score, Sega Saturn CGs and integration of the PC-98 special disk scenarioIf you want me to upload it please be quick, I want to go to sleep in less than 15 minutes.
>>12429428I'd appriciate it
>>12429405I don't think that's true, or at the very least, if it is true, then the translation patch restores it to how it is in the original. The voice acting is genuinely incredible. You should play the Windows 2000 version if for no other reason than that.
>>12429439Allright. The zip is 2,6 Gb (half of it is the music pack), where can I upload this with no account now that anonfiles is gone?
>>12429448Catbox?
>>12429450>Uploads up to 200 MB are allowed
>>12429448Remake the zip without the music and voice files. You can get those here:https://web.archive.org/web/20170701001307/https://tlwiki.org/?title=Kono_Yo_no_Hate_de_Koi_wo_Utau_Shoujo_YU-NOYou just extract them to the game's directory and it should just work.
>>12429453Oh shit, maybe mediafire? If that doesn't work then nevermind so you can sleep.
>>12429448>>12429460and if that's still to big, you can split the archive across multiple files using 7-zip
>>12429460I'll do this then, thanks!>>12429441And thank you for your input too!
>>12429460>>12429461Turns out the normies' website worked out fine: https://we.tl/t-7hMQKzpaMVBe sure to read the intructions, it worked on my machine. Enjoy.
>>12429468Thank you!
>>12429468thanks bro
>>12429470>>12429471You're welcome.I look forward to reading what you thought about it.Until then, good night.
>>12429481Just got home and downloaded it! I'll be sure to post about it at some point, thank you so much and sleep tight!
Read the instructions in the rar >>12429468 and saw it mention needing to change the locale to Japan for the game to run properly. I found this github program on reddit and wondering if it is good to use? https://github.com/xupefei/Locale-Emulator
>>12429851Yes it's good, H-game enthusiasts have been using Locale Emulator for years.
>>12429928Thanks for the reply!
>>12422208and somehow I am confident none of them are any good
>>12429345Look up nec pc98 translation on internet archivesBut yeah, for Yu-No, Windows version with pc98 + voice acting is the way to go.
>>12432474pc98 music*
>>12432660Cool.
Uooooooh
I hate shilling youtubers but does anyone here watch Basement Brothers? He covers PC-98 games as the main focus of the channel. I can't say I have the patience to play these (nor the will to learn japanese) but I enjoy learning about them a lot and the retro anime aesthetics are always great to look at.
>>12432989>does anyone here watch Basement BrothersNo, but I don't care about youtubers.
>>12432989I do and like his videos a lot. His Burai videos were funny.
>>12432989Yeah, his videos are very informative and to the point. He's one of the very few vidya youtubers I watch.
>>12432989>>12433030>>12433183The mark of a great and informative ytube fag is not showing himself and focusing entirely on the footage. I've watched most of his videos and I still don't know what the guy looks like.
wen in english?
Enjoying the game, Yu-No chads?
>>12429405The other way around (as far as the fan TLs are concerned), there's a story sequence which the PC-98 TL doesn't integrate but the Windows TL does.
>>12429345>Legend of HeroesThose games have faithful ports to Windows etc. that are prefered to the horribly choppy scrolling of the PC98.
>>12433986I'm finishing that first PARANORMASIGHT and then will start YU-NO since I heard the later is VERY long.
>>12433469I'm busy with an other project now, but when done, I'd really like to do the first game before tackling the sequel.
>>12435127Keep us posted.
>>12435156Try your luck with battletech/mechwarrior 1 for pc98 or the sharp x68k lateryou alone would retire the use of the og and shitty DOS port
>>12434957>Those games have faithful ports to Windows etcThe fourth game on Windows is a travestied version.
>>12435170I'll be sure to once I play it since I don't want the kindness to go to waste.
>>12434957>horribly choppy scrolling of the PC98This gets mentioned all the time and I have no idea why. Ive played all the PC98 brandishes, Ys, and Legend of Heroes on Neko Project and I never felt like my experience was raped by bad scrolling. I literally dont even notice, why is it such a problem?
>>12435778I like the smoothness of the later ports of Falcom games but I certainly wouldn't say the originals unplayable>>12435206PlayStation version is OK, yeah? Screen resolution aside
>>12435901>PlayStation version is OK, yeah? It's a faithful port from PC-98, yeah. It also adds a save anywhere feature and arranged music.
Anyone here played DESIRE? How does the save system work? I played for like 90 min and didn't reach a save point so I used save state and it corrupted the game files...
>>12436679I only played it on Saturn, but I thought you could save any time. Might not apply to the original game. No manual?
>>12426150>>12424110>>12432981>>12429481Let see the remake
>>12436679In the PC-98 version, you can only save in the currently controlled protagonist's room.
>>12436816Do you really want me to post the remake? I don't want to turn this thread into a shitpost :(
>>12436816Those top 2 don't have remakes.
