because you can run any old exe in a browser since there's code that emulates x86 in browser. Anytime someone puts half life or whatever in the browser they are just gluing it into that with a little bit of fiddling, that's why it's usually done by a kid and forgotten within one hour after they spam around that they 'did this'

Map is actually somewhat balanced around counter sniping since one of 2 sides at spawn has a sniper rifle, the other has a completely useless ripper for some reason
You just gotta watch out for clever dicks perching on the steps of the pyramid with a sniper instead of the intended place
Being repeatedly sniped in the face is of course most of the CTF-Face experience but it's not as bad in practice
2Fort at least has the decency to spawn you in complete safety by comparison

You can also be a complete dickface and camp the enemy pyramid whilst spamming rocket grenades into the teleporter, it's fun

If it's any consolation, it usually lives again on Fridays and Saturdays, thanks to organizing on sites like GameDate. I hosted a night of UT2004 myself a while back and got like 13 players as the average for the night, about 20 max, and around 30 or so unique. I think that site + the fact that the games are now freeware that can natively run on the shittiest of serverboxes has done decently to help revitalize things.
