The strategist's Zelda II: The Adventure of Link.
Huh, nice Sugimori designs
>>12424126Nice Skitty/Quilfish hybrid on the left.
Early Sugimori is pure peak and soul
>>12424132>>12425168>>12425179>>12425184It's so sad he decided to just kill his art style in the 00's for particularly no fucking reason
>>12425415The 00's was the start of the soulless era so art styles had to adapt as a consequence.
Okay, I'll play it
>turned based S-RPG but it's on a side viewOkay that's cool
>>12425168Has anyone ever translated the Quinty & Jerry Boy mangas into English?
>>12424126So where does this game fall on the Pokémon timeline?
>>12424126This got a fan translation just a couple years ago and I've NEVER heard anyone talk about it except this thread. Has anyone actually played it?
>>12425415His art style was always changing This is how he drew in the 80's
>>12429236I just beat it. Didn't get to the true final boss because there is no fucking way I'm grinding up to 1300 Magatama, getting 800 was already annoying enough. In short it's a fast paced sidescrolling S-RPG with a single character (and its companion). Nice concept but it's the sort of game which, like Monstania or Robotrek, feels like there could be more to it because it's restrained by a small budget. Anyway, you move around a top down overworld map and then you get into fights with monsters (that you can see on the map) which take place on a small sidescrolling arena, and despite looking like an action game it's turned based and you're encouraged to end fights in as few turns as possible. There are also dungeons some of which are puzzle-y. You can't jump and instead your companion carries you up to short distances.Nice game overall though boss fights are disappointing, here are some protip:- Down + Jump lets you get carried into small places, the game doesn't convey that- Once you're strong enough that the sword kills enemies instead of triggering fights, you can attack with the companion instead to trigger the fight without getting hit- When you need to collect 800 Magatamas to unlock the final dungeon, use your items in battle to kill several enemies at once and save up on turns
>>12425168This looks like a rip off of Putty Squad but it was released 3 years before. Who knew that Putty Squad was the rip off?
>>12424126This game came out within 2 weeks of Final Fantasy 7
>>12430270I wonder why they didn't port the game to PS1/Saturn seeing as how it released in 1997...
>>12429596Still more soul than his 00's style onwards.
>>12429596>Based cunnyfagNo wonder Pokémon was a worldwide success
>>12430181Just do like me, use cheats, the true ending was worth it, cant believe they put so many new sprites for this alone
>>12429596What's this from?
>>12430181>>12432734How long was it?
>>12433339I dunno, 12-15hours maybe
>>12433293One of the old Gamefreak fanzines from the 80's
>>12429596So misty was a preexisting character design a decade before Pokémon? Neat.
At this point I'm not even touching anything released past 1999. My backlog will easily outlive me.
>>12425415>no fucking reasonWatercolor was being replaced by digicolor. I don't think it's justified, but that's a reason.
