For some reason having a handheld is making me play and beat a lot more games even though I only play at home and could just as easily beat them on PC on a larger higher quality screen with more demanding shaders and the comfort of a separate controller. Just recently finished this for Christmas. Got an everdrive filled with GB, GBC, GBA, SMS, NES and Game Gear games. Swapped out the shell for a DK theme. IPS screen with filter options. Also got two upgraded batteries and an external charger so its never tied to a wall charger. I havent played anything else since getting it, great investment, I loved the SP as a kid.

I’ve never had a chinkheld before but I’m Thinking of pulling the trigger on the RP5 to play Snes and ps1 rpgs in Japanese… The rp6 is tempting but I want the dpad on top and having a top dpad seems like it would be aids for extensively playing ps2 and GameCube games, so the extra power wouldn’t be really worth it. Thoughts?

I even play switch just fine and my device stays fairly quiet.

No other handheld makes sense now when the Thor exists. I keep comparing it to others and it wins every time in all varying kinds of aspects and use cases.

On an all black device with a glass front and an oled, whatever aspect ratio your content is, the black bars will never be distracting because they'll blend in. That's why the best handhelds have it.

I have an rgb30 and absolutely love it, but lately I've been considering an rg cube for the stacked instead of inline triggers, more powerful hardware, and better battery. My only real concern is that it's an android device instead of a Linux one, so I'd lose native pico-8 compatability, which is part of why i chose the rgb30, for the 1:1 screen. The cube has the exact same screen, but with touch capability, which is awesome, but hedging to either emulate pico-8 is a hassle.
