>mom used to watch us play NES in the 1980s.>would write down things on the map so that we keep track of it.>let us call nintendo hotline if we got stuck.>gradually grew up>she began to hate me, call me a loser, a fat slob, a virgin>she began to mock my interests>she walked in on me playing zelda on NES, the very same thing she used to help us with in the 1980s.>she doesn't feel nostalgic about it. She only begins to mock that I'm a loser who lives at home and plays videogamesWere anyone else have moms who played Nintendo with them in the 80s, or did they become mean like mine?
>>12427615You were a kid in the 80s and still live with your mom? Get a job, anon, and maybe your Mom will see an adult when she watches you play, instead of the same child from 40 years ago.
>>12427618I do have a job in an art doing commissions, in fact, I made $3,000 alone last month.
My mom only played Q*bert.
>>12427615My dad used to play video games with me. He really got into Metroid, Punch Out, Star Tropics etc.... He lost interest over time and lamented that all I really cared about was video games when he himself has been an active and outdoorsy kid. He had a point I guess but I have really great memories of him watching me beat Super Mario Bros 2 for the first time and being legitimately proud of me.
>>12427615I never stopped playing retro but I also moved out, have a job, family, other hobbies, etc etc. Nobody really cares that I still game or that I still play NES(played River City Ransom today even) but I do not make it my whole life and make sure my responsibilities are taken care if first.
>>12427615My mom stopped gaming when the N64 came out, but then she got back in when Animal Crossing came out on Gamecube. I played it up until paying off the house, I considered that "beating" it and stopped. But my mom and sister continued playing it for months. I liked the game but I didn't understand why they were so obsessed with it.
>>12427615sir this is an arby's drive through
>>12427615My mom never gamed but was never such an asshole either
>>12427631ok, no. stop. just stop.
>>12427615She’s right though. Fucking loser. Fuck you.
This reminds me of a guy on /co/ in a thread about whether or not your parents like /co/ shitHis single mother didn't and she hated him, but had memories of her only liking Invader Zim because she viewed the aliens as a metaphor for Jews and Dib trying to stop them
>>12427647my mom played some other games too, but she really loved Q*bert for some reason
>>12427615I find this thread simultaneously sad, pathetic (especially when it's revealed he's a Gen Xer who STILL lives with his parents) but also heartbreaking bros
>>12427656my dad hated that i never played sports because it's what he did as a kid, but i was never introduced to sports in the first place so of course i never developed an interestlooking back, it makes me wonder what he really wanted out of a son and whether he expected it to just happen in the background
>>12427857>it makes me wonder what he really wanted out of a sonBoomer parents expected their kids to just be perfect 1 to 1 replicas of themselves, that think and act 100% like they do, and any deviation from that is seen as a horrible insult to God. It's honestly a miracle that millennials aren't even more fucked up.
>>12427615My mom played Crash Team Racing with me and my sister when we were kids.I had an operation a few years ago and had to stay with my parents again for the first time since I had moved out. I brought over my laptop with some emulators on it as well as a couple of controllers.Needless to say, my mom and I played the shit out of CTR for about a week before I was well enough to go back home.I love my mom, /vr/os.
>>12427807Based milf.
>>12427615My parents never really got into that stuff but they participated a little and weren't ever against it. During the GameCube era I played some zombie games with my mom because she liked zombie movies. Your mom sounds very unhealthy. That said, she has a point about you being a fat slob. You should eat less (it's really not that hard) and clean yourself up, and also, if you're making $3000-ish per month semi-consistently then you really should move out. Actually even if you aren't then you should still probably move out, and find some supplementary income somehow to patch over any holes in you budget. Don't live with a mean person. I don't make any $3000 and I moved out. Just do it mang.
>>12427615I got you beat. My brother was a dickhead. At some point he relented and co-op played Toe Jam Earl 3 together on Xbox. One day he got mad at me, so he deleted every save file of mine off the Xbox, including our co-op adventure together.
>>12427615My mom used to stay up late playing Dragon Warrior in my bedroom while I was supposed to be sleeping.
>>12427615My mom really liked Pokemon when she bought it for me. She liked it for not having guns and demons and stuff so she'd watch me play and help me name the 'mons I caught. Her favorite was Flareon and we named it after our cat. I should ask her if she remembers.
>>12427615My brother in law was born in 1982 and got my niece way more into SNES/GB emulation rather than the Switch I got her a few years ago. Can't even be mad, just respect really. She loves the Ducktales GB game
>>12427615Man, what's with parents hating their kids cause they're not who they want them to be? They should love their children no matter what. Some parents really treat their kids like they're trophies or extensions of their egos to show off amongst their peers like it's some fucking competition. It's gross.
>>12427647qbert is momcore
>>12429410It's worse when your parents hate you for not being them, but insist that they love you anyway
>>12429434I hear you. It's like you know it isn't true but bringing it up is just going to stir up more shit so you say fuck it whatever.
>>12427663>but I do not make it my whole life and make sure my responsibilities are taken care if first.Fucking casual.
why is this stupid thread still up?
I was lucky with my parents in that they were both kinda social outcasts that developed their own niche interests. My dad was into electronics and computers and really introduced me to gaming when i was extremely young, though he mainly was only obsessed with flight sims. My mom played Tetris on my snes once and Donkey Konga when i got that, but she also kinda became obsessed with shit like Angry Birds when she got a smart phone. My mom collected antiques so i went with her to all kinds of thrift stores and flea markets as a kid that let scoop of games for really cheap long before they became trendy. I think she just enjoyed having me along as a companion and would buy me random stuff she found when i was at school that she found like a virtual boy or game boy store displays. 30+ years later she still calls me asking if im interested in some gaming related thing she stumbles upon.Only time i got shit for over gaymin, was when i played WoW. But once my dad finally understood from a coworker of his that also played that i was playing with other people, they suddenly stopped caring how much i played. Guess they saw it as a social activity.
>>12427615This image is evergreen.
>>12427631That's pretty good. But you should move out and get married. My parents have no relationship to video games, neither does my wife. So it's only me playing games for my kids, like their personal Twitch streamer.
>>12427752What’s wrong with making money as an artist you fucking dipshit wagie faggot.
>>12429491So is that Xi oneAre there any mods? You can probably get away with posting hardcore pornography at this point
>>12427631You're approx 40 years old, and you think $3,000 a month is impressive? Yikes
>>12432106There was a video posted here of a tranny showing his cock and balls in a Chun-li cosplay that stayed up for days a month or two ago. The mods here either do too little or too much depending on the content.
>>12427683
>>12427615My mom used to skip work in the early 90's to play Sonic on the Mega Drive. Nowadays she watches me and my dad play still, I was playing some Winning Eleven with him just yesterday, though I'm married and moved out, so we only get to hand around on occassion, sometimes I think about the life I could've lived if I stayed with them, maybe more comfortable, but I feel they would've been more unhappy with me, so I can't say I regret moving out and having my own life with someone else.
>>12432107Not everyone wants to participate in the rather race and thats perfectly fine. This whole "shame people for not wanting to be complete slaves to the system" thing is fucking ridiculous.
>>12432953>rather*rat race
>>12432948My goal is to be able to live on my own and I mean on my own. No pets, no gf/wife, just me in a house I bought, not a rental.

>>12427615>mom introduced me to gaming giving me her gameboy to play on and the genesis at home>sonic 2 me as tails her as sonic>had the amazing feeling of beating a whole game as a 3/4 year old since I couldn't die and mom was a pro>still some of my earliest and best memories>later on gets into playstation>lets me watch as she plays stuff like resident evil, parasite eve, tomb raider, ffvii even though its "adult" and gets me into those games too>always hooked me up with the newest consoles come christmas timeshe was forever based and then died when I was 13 so never got to see my post high school failure incel era but that's probably the best. But also there's a good chance I never become a mega failure if she's still there supporting me. ah well.
>>12433070I hope you can achieve your goal, anon. I'd be lying if I said I never think about how more comfortable my life would be if I had focused more on me and my interests and goals, but well, this is the path I chose so I'm sticking with it, I love my wife aswell so I'm staying by her side, even if it means that my life isn't as comfortable or as full of pleasure as it could be.
>>124321073000 a month is impressive if you are barely doing any work to get it. Thats easy cash to live off if its consistent. If i had the choice, i much rather be a drawfag sitting naked at home and making just enough to live comfortably, rather than making more money, but needing to work full time at something i hate, or feeling the need to contribute towards cancerous "hustle culture".
>>12433070Why no pets? I live pretty much what you want, but i wouldn't deny myself owning pets.
>>12427615She sounds resentful that you never did anything with your life. She probably blames herself a little for letting you play games as a child. If you had become successful, those would be fond memories for her too.
>>12429332I'd like to have sexual relations with your mom. You can call me dad... when you're ready, son.
>>12433319Typical shit parents always sperging out at games/music/cartoons because their children didn't do what they wanted or do something they didn't like
>>12427857It's a boomer thing where they don't take active role in their kids life and then act suprised when they kids have different interest
>>12427615Sorry anon. My mom used to play Mario 2 with us, and sometime Tiny Toons. She got really good at Mario 2 and knew almost all the secrets. She's still nice and talks about it as a happy memory, though she never played games much after that.
>>12432107for doing something you actually want to do all the time anyway? seems a decent living that puts you above 90% of people's salary globally.

>>12433070Incredible how less than 50 years ago this was a laughably low bar for a goal because if how easy it was
>>12429320One sided story. You probably deserved it. Fess up.
>>12429530Literally the opposite for me My dad thought all of this was garbage rotting my brain while my mom tried to understand it and called it cool
>>12433829Stop being a nobody, then.
>>12433925I accidentally saved over a basketball game, he probably spent a dozen hours playing it, but come on tell me I deserved to have All Of My Saves for Every Game I Ever Played Deleted, including the one We Played Together For Once. i'll wait
>>12433070Might as well wish for world peace at this point
>>12427615Im an 89 so ps1 was when games became my life. My mom really liked Resident Evil because you had to solve puzzles and think a little bit so she liked to watch me play while she read her book. She also liked metal gear solid and we were both flabbergasted when Master turned out to be liquid
>>12427631Drawing tentacle porn is not a job.
>>12427615Have you tried losing weight? At least that would be one less thing for her to rib you about.
>>12432116I've gotten a 3-day ban for calling someone a pedophile on more than one occasion. There are mods, but they're the ones ruining the board.
>>12427631I didn't know TeePublic paid that well
>>12429410This is way to off VR related stuff but I think the boomers were a very unique generation amongst many other gen’s in that they really feel like their specific culture is peak and anything else is lesser, like gaming. I played soccer my whole life, a lot of it playing for my father as he coached and played well into his 50/60s. He hated gaming even when I was working for GameStop and “making money” off the medium and would have rather I’d made less even if it was something like serving tables. My sister only ever really played one ‘real’ video game and it was ff9 of all games where she kicked my ass at the game in that she started asking me for help in areas I didn’t even know existed on a first playthrough like the chocobo heaven stuff which I think (iirc) is all optional for a major summon or something. I was shocked at how good at the game she was w virtually no prior experience. Unfortunately she never got into any other games as far as I know and our relationship went to shit years ago when I ran into a rough patch. Ironically my brother really got me into gaming but he only played very specific titles and only played ff7 once he was a 20 something. Only other game he ever played as an adult was the og Ghost recon, so bizarre to me what appealed to my family as far as games go.
>>12435104I'm lucky to have grown up with two brothers who loved video games almost as much as me. We got to talk about games and play multiplayer daily.
>>12432101>get marriedVery shitty advice...
>>12436084Only if you marry poorly. >stay single and childless until you're an old manThat's worse advice, and you'll realize just how bad the older you get.I guess you can have a girl and kids without getting married, but that has some problems too.
>>12436107The downsides of marrying poorly greatly outweigh the upsides of marrying well. As for the fear of getting old and dying alone, that's life
>>12436107>"You'll be lonely!">>"I have schizoid personality disorder. I am emotionally incapable of feeling lonely, and have never felt it in my life.">"But... you'll be lonely!"Is there even an actual reason why staying single is bad? To date, the only people I've heard insist on marriage are themselves already married (sometimes poorly), and are apparently incapable of realizing that someone else might feel differently.
>>12436142Okay yeah if you're a schizoid and hate being around people then stay single. I'm giving general advice for normal people. Obviously some people will be happier staying single forever, but for the most part it's a poor decision.
>>12436142>an actual reason why staying single is badBecause getting old sucks, and it sucks harder without a family
>>12427631Is that you Dobson?
>>12436113>dying alone, that's lifeNot my life. My children love me a lot :D
