Retro games you can't into
>>12427685dafuq is this level, did the timeline switched again?
>>12427685>Retro games you can't intobad games like every Isometeric CRPGargabe
>>12427685that's not diablo 2
>>12427804yeah is a mod https://www.moddb.com/mods/myth-mod
>>12427685If you don't get addicted to farming for items D2 is just okay. It has some cool things and I want to like it more than I do but actually playing it isn't really that satisfying.
>>12427685
>>12428116That's a real shame on HoD, I'm happy you at least tried though.>>12427685Probably Jet Set Radio. I pushed myself through the one for DC and had an alright time, but I just cannot get very far into the Xbox one without getting bored and quitting after 30-60 minutes. It's been like 3 years and I just got past the sewers. Not sure what it is, it's not a bad game, it just doesn't do anything for me.
>>12427685I could never get into Castlevania. it's an ok series but only that IMO, Ghosts n Goblins is better as an "intentionally" stiff platformer. and to a lesser extent, Mega Man, Sonic and Resident Evil. good series all of them but I don't understand how people can get so worked up about them.
>>12429087I worked my way back from the Metroidvania side of the series. Give those a shot if you haven't already. Also I'd personally say it's worth it to play Castlevania for the music alone.
>>12427853I really like the exploration in Diablo 2. Resurrection helps in that regard, since the environments are a lot more interesting in it.
>>12427698LMAOThis fag gets so emotional over Kingdom Hearts that he cries.
There are no retro games I can't into
>>12427853>>12429134Diablo 2 is peak if you just play it through with the goal of killing hell Baal. Bonus points if you play on HC. Like that the game works quite nicely as something you can play again and again when you feel like it.
>>12429120I played Aria of Sorrow when it came out and later Order of Ecclesia and I thought they were alright but really overstuffed/padded from the RPG elements. some time later I checked out Bloodlines and SC4 and I thought they're just okay. I might give them another go though, since I'm not playing anything atm, or maybe I should check out one of the NES games?
>>12429156Not him, but only the most lamest of dorks could take CRPGs seriously before they started to make them anything but boring clickfests with melodrama for dudes that belong in the theater club. There's a reason that no one younger than 40 even cares about that shit and even the developers of said games have moved on from the style.
>>12429269your admonishment fits Nomura era Final Fantasy more than CRPGs though
>>12429269Every time I see a post like this I realize how much it must suck to be a bing bing wahoo brainlet.
>>12429271What? JRPGs are more or less the same as they ever were and they're still popular as fuck. I have yet to see someone try and recreate an older CRPG in the style of the Ultima games (not the Underworld ones, but the main series), Diablo or OG Fallout. Unless you are an actual 40+ year old man, no one plays those anymore. They ar eliterally antiquated in the same way ZX Spectrum and Amiga games are. I don't know how hard it is to understand that anyone that is a young adult or in their 30s won't find those games remotely interesting since their game design philosophy is so antiquated.
>>12429281Dude you're just an old cunt. No one likes the games you liked as a kid and you can't accept the fact that you had shit taste as a child and by objective measures, many of the games you played weren't good at all
>>12429282stop being an embarrassing sperg>Diablonugget really??? go play Dungeon Lords, that should be more your speed>OG Fallout.Age of Decadence. too much reading for you though
>>12427685Jet Force Gemini Everyone acts like it's the greatest shooter ever made, or even the greatest game ever made in general, but I just can't get into it at all. The controls are so fucking awkward it's practically unplayable. I don't get why it's so universally beloved.
>>12429298>Everyone acts like it's the greatest shooter ever made, or even the greatest game ever made in generalBy “everyone” I presume you mean one or two very vocal spergs?
>>12429296>stop being an embarrassing spergRelax dude. You can still like your glorified Excel Spreadsheet simulators even if no one else in their right mind would. I'm not taking that away from you. I'm just pointing out why no one wants to play them or make them anymore outside of the niche fanbase it attracted.> too much reading for you thoughWell, yeah. I read books to get enjoyment out of reading, not video games. Not to say there should be NO writing in a video game, but in a medium that allows for more than text to be rendered on a screen, text really shouldn't be the main focus of a game at all. This is what I mean by CRPGlets being demented. You can display anything you want and have any sort of world being rendered on screen at anytime but some drab looking isometric game with walls of text to cover up for the lack of any real sense of visual flair, style or even interactivity (which video games primarily are) is the pinnacle of gaming. No one in your right mind would agree with you because that's stupid. Maybe just stop being an eternally butthurt nerd and realize that those games weren't as good as you thought they were, especially when they weren't that deep or thought provoking as an actually worthwhile book like something from the Western canon, nor as entertaining as an actually worthwhile game.
>>12429321kek it took you half an hour to come up with this overwrought shit. go on and read more of your "books" (actually just Stephen King), that's sure to serve you well in coming up with more of these epic rebuttals. to people like you, Tim Cain might as well be a god.
>>12429338You're doing a terrible job not sounding like a butthurt dork. Makes sense considering you're sucking off some old has-been gay codemonkey as if he did actual technical wizardry bullshit like John Carmack has and still does. Maybe you should talk to your butt-buddy boyfriend instead of me.
>>12429352you're just throwing the kitchen sink to see what sticks. you developmentally delayed gimp, go play the games I recommended.
>>12429308Maybe, I dunno. I just feel like I constantly see people getting torn apart if they ever speak negatively about it.
>>12429362Lmao, you're mad because I'm right. Also, no I'm not a retarded senile boomer that thinks games should be as interesting as making an Excel presentation. I like my games to actually take advantage of the fact that they're games, not a second fucking job.Get some taste, you old cranky faggot. CRPGs are shit and you're a moronic shit-for-brains for putting such a wretched genre on a pedestal instead of in the dustbin of history, where they rightfully belong.
>>12429372I'm not even reading your posts before I hit reply and you're just paragraphing away lmao. you are too simple. play the shit I told you to play.
>>12429397No :^)Get some taste, you old asswipe.
>>12429296>Age of Decadencefuck off back to RPGcuckdex
>>12429495and if I don't you'll do what? hold your breath and stomp your feet? all your RPG opinions are downstream from the 'dex.
>>12429363you saw one post from 6 months ago and it's still living in your head rent-free
I recently picked up the steam release and have been giving it a good effort but just cannot get into it. Diablo is just way too much of a loot goblin game.
>>12428116>Scurge HiveI had that game for DS. I cant remember if it was good or bad. I played halfway and got bored.
>>12427685Sonic, Mario or any side scroller platformer where it just feels like one big obstacle race to the finish.
>>12429282>JRPGs are more or less the same as they ever wereLOL no. You've never played Phantasy Star 2 or any other JRPG grindfest that modern audiences HATE. I almost doubt you've played any games at all as you clearly know nothing about any of them.
>>12427698this. i was so disappointed when i tried out baldur's gate 2 and found out it's nothing like diablo 2. fuck all that shit.
>>12429886Honestly, it's not very good. The isometric controls kind of suck and you can only shoot in 8 directions on a grid while the enemies you fight can move any number of degrees in any direction so they can easily get into spots where you can't hit them even though they can hit you. In addition to this forcing you to constantly reposition during combat, you can't move while shooting so it becomes 10 times more of a pain. It just kinda fucking sucks to play.
>>12429269>There's a reason that no one younger than 40 even cares about that shitLots of zoomers played Baldurs Gate 3 because it's as gay as they are.
>>12429087Same on Castlevania and I've tried a few times. I love everything about the presentation and I get that the stiffness of the gameplay is supposed to be part of the appeal but I guess I've just been spoiled by platformers like Mario or Mega Man where you have control over your jump midair.
>>12427685I watched a lot of Mario Kart 64 speedruns but when I played it IDK it feels very clunky. CTR from the same generation handles much better imo. Anyways, I tried doing some of the skips and they're surprisingly easy, at least when you don't have to do them all perfectly in sequence. >>12429962This was also the first thing I thought of when I read that comment lol
>>12427685I tried to get into Vagrant Story since Ilike most of Square's PS1 stuff but it just didn't grab me. The first dungeon is just a bunch of blurry brown squares with shadows so heavy you can't see shit and combat is some weird menu thing and the dude is wearing assless chaps. I know things probably get more interesting later but I just had no urge to keep going. Also i tried system shock and didn't quite get the hype either. A bunch of identical-looking corridors, vague objectives and bad melee combat. I was bored after ten minutes
>>12427685When I was new to emulation in the mid 2000s I tried multiple SNES JRPGs and Chrono Trigger was the only one I liked, the others I gave up either at the start or the better ones around the mid game.btw I found this fun video, how true is it?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IptvSQY9Qa8
>>12428116>the most eye-pleasing design a zoomer mind can come up with without resorting to aiwe're fucking doomed
>>12429943these games have literally nothing in common except a similar camera perspective. wtf were you thinking?
anything crpg related. I REALLY REALLY tried but I fucking hate reading.
>>12434549I don't hate reading, but most of the time there's a lot of fluff and it's just not that interesting. I don't really know if you'd consider VtMB to be a CRPG. But playing Malkavian in that had me interested in the dialogue a bit more since you had to try and figure out your own responses and getting unintended reactions from characters sometimes.
>>12427685If Diablo 2 had a map like that id kill to play for hours alone
>>12434301Not new
Gothic. Maybe i'm not german/autistic enough (same thing amirite?) but every attempt I make at playing it just results in frustration and me rage quitting.
>>12427685Re-playing Fallout 1 now. I want to like it, since the atmosphere and lore is cool, but I can't stand how harsh the gameplay is. Like you can get locked out of entire questlines by one "wrong" answer that doesn't even look like a bad choice, with no way to recover. This bitch Jain suddenly won't even talk to me and I have no idea what I ever did to piss her off. I'm just screwed out of whatever she had to say from now on. Plus the second half is very unfocused. Other than the fact I know you have to go to the military base and cathedral I don't know where to look to find that info in-game so it is hard to role play as my guy.
>>12436847yeah, Gothic ramps up very slowly and you have to be really careful in picking your fights. it's satisfying when you can finally start going around kicking ass though, cause you know you've earned it.
