What's your favorite fatality in all Mortal Kombat games?
>>12429475Sub Zero spine rip and Kano heart pull, both from MK1
>>12429502>now I consider them grossonly 30 years late on that one, better late than never, i guess
Another shallow MK thread
Scorpion's spear slice in MK II.
>>12429506No one forced you to enter it and reply
>>12429502It's not just edgy or gross. It's the natural consequence of what you do in the game. You know, Ryu doing shin shoryukens is breaking people's jaws, Dhalsim's yoga flame would leave horrifying burns, most fighting game moves would kill people or at least leave lasting permanent damage. MK is one of the few series that makes you confront it and deal with it instead of pretending violence has no consequences. Even pokes fun at it. It's art.
>>12429532if you uppercut someone in MK enough blood comes out to make anyone lose consciousness, how about you confront that first kek. in MK3 you can have several ribcages throttling out from a fatality victim. the retarded nature of these games is their draw
>>12429543I said>Even pokes fun at itPeople who find it too gross or too edgy have to reflect why they want to have fun doing horrible things like punching people but then don't wanna see blood pouring out or bones flying all over the place
>>12429475The Pit II
>>12429480Childhood is about liking fatalities. Adulthood is when you realize friendships make more sense.
>>12429475I always liked brutality because of all the extra bones
from MK2 it has to be reptile eating their head from across the stage.
>>12429493>Sub Zero spine ripI feel like that's the most iconic one. Probably my favorite too because nostalgia
Easily Liu Kang's dragon from MK II (not the botchered animality from 3)
>>12429475Scorpion's fire breath, Liu Kang's dragon transformation, and Cyborg Smoke blowing up the planet are the three Fatalities that stand out to me right now.
>>12429760Anon from above your post. I agree on these 3 actually. Smoke's Earth explosion one was so over the top, and the Scorpion one is the single most iconic one IMO, I never cared too much about Sub-Zero as a character as I thought he was cheap, but his spinebone one is also almost as iconoc as Scorpion's
>>12429506>why isn't everyone posting fresh new shit>on this board dedicated exclusively to decades old games
>>12429475Sub Zero spinal cord rip.
>>12429589>>12429726It was crap like this and animals as well as just the bullshit of the game just kinda made me lose interest in the games. At the time I thought the game was just shitting on people being dumb with all these secrets but now I see that it was pretty cool. Yeah, there are some silly things but it's fun and it's not a move most people will use anyway.
>>12429757yeah thats a good one. that one blew my 8 year old mind in the arcade. shame his other one sucks so bad (and you cant even do it into the pit)
>>12429765>Scorpion one is the single most iconic one IMO,Also one of the easier ones to do in the original game. Though I'd say Sub-Zero's spinal rip was more notorious at the time because it was censored from the SNES version.
The fatalities in the original MK trilogy were fun because they looked so goofy with the lo-fi graphics and the 20 ribcages and skulls flying out when your opponent explodes. Modern MK just feels like weird snuff shit.
>>12429589This was someone's fetish, wasn't it?
>>12429867>fatalities>fun>goofyspeak for yourself, it's clear you were desensitized early on
>>12429959Protip: telling everyone how much of a pussy you are won't get you upvotes here.
>>12429965>ad-hominem namecalling for not finding gore "fun" or "goofy"an all too predictable retort from a warped mind
>>12429971I hope you're at least wearing pink panties if you're gonna be this much of a sissy.
>>12429768There are a shit ton of games, why is there so many MK threads?
>>12429726I always liked Smoke's "No Smoking Allowed" sign.
>>12429556fatalities were cool don't get me wrong but they weren't nearly as fun as beating someone and following it up with a stupid completely unrelated joke. I vividly remember someone doing kung lao's friendship as the hardest I've ever laughed in the context of a videogame.
>>12430452that shit ain't fucking funny
>>12429867I think part of it is the cutscene aspect and how drawn out they are, cutting to different camera angles for like 20 seconds just immediately disconnects you from the action.
>>12429729It's my favorite because it was the first one I saw (before I even knew what a fatality was or that the game had them). It was a bit terrifying at the time, seeing these digitized actors that looked like real people getting mangled. There's something special about the first game's fatalities in that most of them aren't even related to the respective character's gimmick or in-battle powers. Raiden blowing your head off with lightning being the lone exception unless you count Liu Kang uppercutting you but that's barely a fatality. Subzero doesn't use his ice powers other than in shitty ports. Scorpions fire breath isn't even something he uses while fighting, same with Sonya's fire kiss. Most of the fatalities are just basic ways to kill someone but done so by characters strong enough to pull them off. Don't get me wrong I still enjoyed the more outlandish fatalities of later games and I get they kinda had to go in that direction, but they lacked that terrifying vibe of the first game.
For me its any of shang tsungs glitched fatalities
>>12432438>Gotta split!
>>12432438Is that shit real?
>>12429475
>>12429726was this a result of the moral panic surrounding MK? still funny either way
>>12432438I sorta came to post this, but my personal favorite I would do back in the day is to morph to Sub for the end of the fight, start that fatality then morph into Scorpion and burn them to a crisp. Close second is Mileena's partly cause it's awesome and partly cause it's easy enough that my mom could do it. I taught her that if you just constantly do rolls and teleport kicks my friends couldn't handle it so she'd kick their asses, fatality them while yelling "go mileena, eat them and spit out their bones" while they sat looking shocked. Good times! >>12433250Sort of, but only in that it was the making fun of people who actually got upset about the cartoon violence of MK.
>>12429729It is for sure and it was the one always shown on the news (along with Kanos heart rip) during the hysteria over video game violence it and Doom caused during that time. For me it's Scorpions fire breath one but I admit the cooler and more iconic is indeed the spine rip
>>12433250Yes>>12433507That's literally what the moral panic about MK was genius
>>12433518Right. I was saying they were poking fun at the moral panic. He asked what the context was.
>>12433507Damn, you had a cool mom.
>>12433507giwtwm
>>12430016Because it's a popular franchise that has been around for decades and is still culturally relevant enough to get new releases and adaptations and such?Yeah, maybe it's all just fake hype for the new movie but at the same time maybe a new movie plus the release of the Kompilation reminded people that they liked MK. Probably a little of both
>>12433507>When you try to do that on Arcade but couldn't because of the 2.5 sec Fatality time. The first ports of mk 1 & 2 doubled the fatality time limit, why did they brought back to 2 secs in MK3 and UMK3? That sounds like the worst set up you put on options and the 5 sec was the default.
>>12430452Based.
>>12433741>still culturally relevantNot anymore, the last one failed to impress in the long run and it's abandoned.
This, because I accidentally discovered it myself.
>>12433584yeah she was a real milfmom i'd like to friend
>>12429578I always thought brutalities were the coolest.
>>12436897I always thought they were brutal
