A Taiwan invasion will destroy the hobby. Sanctions on Chinese imports will make replacement parts, mods, lasers, capacitors, soldering materials scarce. Working consoles will skyrocket in price and Japan's retro stock will be absolutely pillaged. FPGA systems will be unobtainium since they rely on Taiwanese chips. If you are someone who plays daily make sure to stock up on what you need to keep your favourite systems running 20 years into the future.

Fanfiction thread btw

Get a life

Just emulate

USrael killed a head of state and is now killing everyone opposition leader who could've realistically replaced him because they're openly talking about how they want total anarchy and destruction, but remember China bad

They killed Khamenei instantly lmao

But you fuckers said the bubble was going to pop and I didn't buy stuff before because of that

Lol, imagine being a plastic hoarder and subjecting yourself to this shit.
>>
>>12429693
On what retard? Did you read the OP? You still need hardware to emulate on
>>
China can't pull off an 80 mile naval invasion in the era of constant satellite surveillance. Their ships would be blown out of the water by missiles from Taiwan batteries and US aircraft/drones.

China has no chance at Taiwan anytime soon, strongly doubt they will try since they know that too

China couldn't even take a little shit island like Kinmen in the 40s, what chance at all of Taiwan in the current age?
>>
fuck you and get off the board

China has hardly any commanders with field experience, the few ones still around are elderly. it would be a shitshow to rival the 3 day special operation.

Good thing emulation exists motherfuckers

How does that justify another country acting faggy?

The Iron Dome is a scam to suck up taxpayer money, just like the entire "war". Mossad doesn't need an iron dome because none of the attacks are real, just staged excuses to ramp up the money machine.

If electronic components become unavailable, replacement through-hole capacitors to fix a broken genesis or super nintendo are the least of problems
>>
>>12430361
When OP talks about "the hobby" he doesn't mean playing games.
>>
>>12430646
That guy wasn't OP.
>>
>>12430639
I didn't say electronic components in general though? There are electronics producers outside China but when the Chinese flow stops those places are going to be prioritising the essentials to keep society afloat. Obviously they won't be worried about produce parts for 30 year old game systems.
>>12429974
Are we really going to pretend having a few spare consoles and capacitor kits on hand for your daily drivers I excessive?

What does any of this have to do with playing retro games in emulators on my PC?
>>
>>12430646
Forget about /v2k/, we need /vr/ - retro games and /pc/ - plastic collectors.
>>
>>12430974
As someone who both plays and collects retro games I'd much rather retro collecting threads were over on /toy/ or something. That way we could discuss games here and discuss collecting plastic elsewhere in peace without every thread turning into a war.

Nintendo is trying to kill emulation btw.
They're claiming that if an emulator includes features to designed to decrypt encrypted content, they're violating copyright because any such software has to be authorized by Nintendo.
>>
Just make your own computers if you are not happy.

Also kind of curious what would be the best computer someone could make with bare minimum materials but it's a hard question considering 1) you have to define what counts as a computer at bare minimum to get going and 2) what is considered bare minimum materials like what metals are you allowed to have.

I tried googling this and there was some shit like in ancient rome/greek and middle ages they had very mechanical clock/calendar systems which could be considered computers. Like they had some task to keep track of planets and shit.
>>
>>12429693
>>12431150
And to be clear, it's not "software designed to break" the encryption. They're saying it doesn't matter whether the player uses their own key to decrypt the IP, they're saying by default it's a violation because Nintendo never allowed you to use that key with that software. And therefore, the only reason the software exists is to pirate games, and so should be held liable for copyright infringement.

Xi wants a legacy and has been purging valuable people over perceived setbacks against this legacy. I don't think they'll do it either, but it's already taking a lot of blood and sweat to wrangle Xi down because he really does want a historical win that bad.

It was already ruined with these tariffs. China was my last source for cheap retro gaming and that's already ruined before them messing with another nation. They did repurpose a lot of old chips into a working motherboard and I think this 14TB HDD (it is an old fashioned platter style one) came from a Chinese server which had already used it for many hours but it is filled with a lot of old gaming data. I was looking forward to Ananta and RO3, but cost of all the computing and those parts have already pushed me out of gaming. Even fuel prices has already gone up making the cost of living that much higher without wages improving. So I hope every other nation pushes back and pressures against that disastrous scenario as I'd like to return to enjoying videogames.
