SEGA Saturn title Lupin III: Pyramid no Kenja has received a fan translation... except it is not a "fan" translation at all, but rather an AI sloplation.
So, is this it, then? Are we doomed to receive nothing but swill fit only for hogs now that everyone and their dog can hop on ChatGPT with zero knowledge of Japanese and crank out garbage that may or may not have anything to do with the actual source text?

And here is the smoking gun... The translator themselves stating in plain English that they rely on AI and Machine translation.
>>
>AI!!!
did you read the original to see how inaccurate it is?
>No!!!!

AI translation > fan trannylation

>Lupin III: Pyramid no Kenja
NO!!! Not such an esteemed title! Fuck, bros, not like this!

>>12432315
Given you can't take a screenshot properly, I think you can fuck yourself
>>
>>12432321
>did you read the original to see how inaccurate it is?
I don't have to. Same reason I don't have to taste a cow turd to know it tastes like shit.
You would do well to hold these so-called """"fans"""" to a higher standard. If truly they were fans and truly they liked the games they were working on, then they would show the games some respect and do it right instead of taking lazy shortcuts.

Horrible day for the underedumacated.
>>
>>12432314
AI translations are pretty good. If you don't like it, don't play it. You aren't entitled to shit.
>>
>>12432342
>AI translations are pretty good
Eh it depends, but I think it's pretty easy to get to a good translation from an AI translation
>>
>>12432330
tl;dr: No!!!!

I've been meaning to play this game for months.
I was planning to use Retroarch's AI translation tool.

The good news is now I don't have to open retroarch and can play this game in Mednafen. Thanks translators!

You must have had you head in the sand to think this is a new phenomenon. Bad machine translation has existed for decades and the translation aspect of these projects has always been the easiest part.

>the translation aspect of these projects has always been the easiest part
Clearly that's not the case since it seems to be the part no one is able to do. You can become proficient in ROM hacking in less than a month. Learning a second language takes years. There are way more hackers than translators, hence the recent string of garbage machine translated hacks. Can the "the hacking is the hard part, actually" meme be killed and buried?
>>
ai is better than some tranny translating it
>>
>>12432314
this is actually a good thing. fan translators often LOVE to shove in their own sociopolitical opinions. I rather have nothing desu
>>
>>12432459
Soon you won't even need to do the hacking part either, AI will handle both aspects. And in due time it will be better than human made ROMhacks.
>>
Nobody in this thread was ever going to play this game, translated or not.
>>
>inb4 350 posts of people who neither played the game nor checked the translation
>from posters who didn't know the game existed prior to this thread
>who can not read Japanese and can barely speak English

It's been on my play list for months. I've seen almost every single Lupin III movie save from a couple which are super obscure (there are more than 50)

This game needs a remake done by Bluepoint.

I had time to play it while /vr/ was done. Overall I enjoyed it. Conceptually it's like a cross between Tomb Raider and Metal Gear Solid, as stealth allows you one shot enemies and you hide the bodies and if you don't other enemies passing by can revive their fallen comrades. However it's a lot more simple and easy compared to both these games, at least on Normal difficulty (there are 3 harder difficulty modes and they really seem to up the difficulty, in the hardest one failure to be stealthy can be costly). Sometimes Jigen and Goemon will help at the end of levels.
The animated cutscenes, music, voice acting and still images are all top notch but the actual gameplay is only okay. Controls can be a bit jank.
There is a score system based on how many enemies you killed and how many items you picked up, but even when I had 100% on both counts sometimes I'd still not end up with a score of 100 so I'm not sure what's the hidden criteria (maybe damage taken or time?). Once you beat the game you unlock other costumes and the ability to play as other characters.

Protip: when running you can do a long jump, a shoulder bash, and a slide. Wait a few steps before running a third time in a row so that Lupin won't tire. You can push bodies down pits to get rid of them but you have to be careful.

As for the translation, the game has very little text, just the subs they added to animated cutscenes and Fujiko's tips at the start of a stage, so I would say there is not much to fuss about really. There are probably less than 500 words in the entire game. I did notice that one of the stage's name is glitched (partially cut) on the save screen and I felt like the font used for Fujiko's tips was basic and unfitting but that's a nitpick. The subs are appreciated though since playing with AI translation wouldn't have solved that.

Not a must play but nice for Lupin III fans.

They also did a shit job on the FMV encoding. They just re-encoded the already compressed FMVs on the disc with subtitles which just created something truly awful looking. You can get away with that with certain codecs, but 15-bit Duck Truemotion is not one of them.

wtf is wrong with your fingers, man? are you an alien? cant tell if this is bait

they are showing immense respect by not hiring a trannylator.

I'm fine with AI translation as long as I can understand the gist of the story.
>>
>>12432791
no woke shit and memes
>>
I don't mind AI translations if they do it like Segagaga where they use it just ot start but still have an actual translator working on it.

If they just use AI to do the whole thing and say "there, I did it" then yeah, fuck them.
>>
>>12432314
AI translation is good but you need a native english speaker as an editor to fix what it creates.
>>
>>12432314
>Lupin III: Pyramid no Kenja
it's just a shitty tranime visual novel who cares?
>>
>>12432314
why don't you go and fix up his poor slop job then, he even gave you start and provided you a rough outline and font as well as hacking, the technical part is done for you
>>
>>12432539
I played this game 25 years ago you cum guzzling faggot shut the fuck up
>>
Where can I find this translation? My usual sites don't seem to have it.

Is this how it all gonna be from now on? How tiresome. Do you people really enjoy outraging about everything?
>>
I take Ai over localizers after the entire final fantasy shitshow
>>
>>12433004
The game has very, very little text to begin with. It's mostly menus and stuff.
