How were they? Are there any fun game worth playing?
Thinking on trying Starcraft and Command & Conquer on the N64, or maybe Warcraft II on the PS1

Fuckin awful. Massive downgrades to make them work on consoles and they all lurch along like clockwork turds. None of the advantages of PC hardware that those games were made for.

If you're going to play a console RTS or even TBS you should be playing ones made specifically for consoles and not demakes. Otherwise just play the PC titles, they're superior and work to the strengths of the genre and its intended medium. There are very few RTS on consoles, especially retro ones, because they have to inevitably be handicapped by the hardware. The ones made purely for consoles have some quirks but they're a far better time than a demake of any popular PC RTS.

Herzog Zwei for Genesis is an interesting console-exclusive RTS. Instead of the interface being moving a pointer around like in most RTS, you control a super-vehicle that can fly, issue commands, pick up your other (manufactured) units to transport them, and transform into a robot to engage in ground combat. Has a vs. CPU campaign (not much of a story though) and 2-player PvP.

The only people I can imagine buying these RTS games are the not who did not own a PC, lol.
Is there really no RTS games on console that used a mouse?

Looks interesting, especially for 2player PVP. Going to try it later

I liked Pikmin

>RTS on consoles
I can't recommend retro ones. Maybe there's some specifically made for consoles? Ogre Battle 64 is good.

I'm not sure if Field Combat on NES can even be counted as RTS and it's not particularly great game, but it's kinda fun?

Yes
Kingdom Under Fire Crusades/Heroes, although controls are weird.
Full Spectrum Warrior was also fun

Civ 2 on PS1 also is great, I spent countless hours when I had PSP playing it.

GrimGrimoire was pretty fun.
There seems to be an updated version, though I only played the PS2 original.

>GrimGrimoire
tower defense slop, not RTSlop

Speaking of Command & Conquer, how the FUCK are you meant to beat GDI mission 11 on hard?
It immediately throws me against three Turrets and a Light Tank with only six Grenadiers and an MCV. I dip right, kill the Light Tank and rush for the Tiberium patch to build my base but I start getting attacked almost immediately and constantly by streams of infantry and vehicles. With clever defending I can kill most of it with minimal losses, but then two Light Tanks and a Flame Tank show up before I can even breathe. Even mission 8 side B with the retards getting themselves killed to Tiberium didn't feel this bad, I get the impression that I'm fucking something up here.

If you want Starcraft to be a lot harder and more limited then play the 64 version. This was my first exposure to Star Craft as a kid lel still have the same cartridge.

I loved Dune 2 on PC and an anon recommended the Genesis version so I gave it a try.
And it's pretty fun: less buildings and a smaller unit limit, but the graphics are cuter and the controls work fine with a pad.
