Sometimes I wonder if there are still parts of old games no one has seen (other than the developers I guess). Secrets never found, or maybe just something late into a game that was absurdly difficult yet not popular enough to have anyone who cared to play through all the way.

to be fair there was an easter egg in Futurama the Game that people couldn't datamine the solution for, so there is still probably things hidden in games beyond just datamining.

Wasn't there a secret room in A Link to the Past that wasn't found for a decade or two? They absolutely do exist and people are still finding them

There's that hidden message in the E.T. psx game that took 20+ years to be discovered

If you mean the Chris Houlihan Room, a lot of people stumbled on it shortly after the game released. I remember finding it in the 90s, trying to get back and failing, so I just assumed it was a one-time even when returning to the hole from the start of the game. Maybe it did take nearly a decade or more for people to work out how to intentionally get there and why it exists though.
>Room ID 82 is used as an error handler if you fall into a hole and the game cannot find a proper destination. It is a single cave room and contains a Telepathic Tile as well as 225 Rupees. Exiting the cave takes you to outside Link's House, regardless of which World you were in before entering the room. This room also exists in the GBA version of the game.
>There is a bug in the game which can lead you to this room, related to screen transitions using the Pegasus Boots: go to the area to the left of Hyrule Castle and go up. After the transition has ended, drop a Bomb in front of you and wait until it explodes. It will hurt you, and push you against the bottom of the screen. Now, charge up the Pegasus Boots, and turn to the bottom while charging up, so you will immediately move down to the next screen. Now, go to the hole at Hyrule Castle which leads to the secret passage and fall into it, and you will enter this room.
>Otherwise, go to Hyrule Cemetery, push the tombstone (the one that leads to castle sewer area), place a bomb to the south and stand between the bomb and the hole while facing south, let the bomb explode and push Link into the hole, this will also send Link to said room.
Even more recently, somebody finally confirmed Chris's identity and the details of how the contest he won to get his name into a Nintendo game worked.

Sure. Every so often some kid comes on here announcing some thing they/them discovered and it always turns out to be a nothing burger that a no one has seen for the first time.

theres a schizo namefag that posts on /v/ sometimes, goes by "nora kisaragi". he genuinely thinks that a "going into games machine" is real, and that japan has collectively been hiding "a whole secret half" of the game within their game. i think it was bloodborne that "convinced" him of this or something, and he actually tried to sue fromsoft and bamco, but got laughed out of court. seriously, he claims that japanese game devs and people are "hiding" half of the game and its "too hard to access for non-japanese people". evidence? his ass. that and the fact that he can not accept the concept of cut content, so when he sees cut content, he thinks that its "proof" and a leak. its really wild stuff. very silly.

Games have been fully disassembled at this point. How could he believe something like that for Super Mario World when you can just look at the disassembly and see for yourself?

Only discovering new glitches and the effects they can have on the game.

A cheat was found in Fighters Megamix just in 2024, that gives you a debug menu through which you can do all sorts of shit and unlock most of the characters.
