c'mon it wasn't THAT bad
>>
Maybe not just as terrible as people paint it to be, but it was pretty bad. For me the worst part was the voiceover. It was so cringe, and it took out a lot of the "alone and exploring the unknown" atmosphere the first one had.

There was an Unreal 2? How the fuck did that slip past me?

it's on Xbox and competed with Unreal Championship duology

I remember a promo photo with a flamethrower that looked so sick, everyone jizzed to that image, even more than that chick's tits. I can't seem to find it anymore tho, or maybe I just misremembered it, I see picrel when searching but I remember it being from the perspective of watching someone else spray napalm down a hall
>>
>>12451861
No, it isn't bad at all in fact It's a decent shooter maybe not as a good as the original Unreal but still solid. Only people who can't think without a youtuber telling them what to think hate it, try having an original thought for once.
>>
>>12453019
>review scores at the time from 5 to 8
If you couldn't buy a 9 or 10 it's not a good game. 5/10 is terrible for a big-name AAA game like that.
>>
It wasnt bad at all, but I never got the urge to play it again either.

Unfortunately it wasn't fun. Your character moves more slowly than in any other Unreal game which impacts the type of gameplay notably. One point of the game is basically like a tower defense segment which is a pain in the ass. The characters are pretty stiff too. The chick with the tits is basically a cardboard cutout and your character talks like Barak Obama. The ship's pilot is a weird alien dude who is kind of cool, but the jokes they set up around him and his odd behavior don't land very well. You can sort of walk around and explore the ship you're on, but there's not much to really see. Overall, it feels kind of hollow and pointless. The flamethrower looks pretty cool, but if you want a retro flamethrower in a more fun FPS, then play Return to Castle Wolfenstein

What an idiotic garbage take. Even poorly reviewed games from the early 2000s are masterpieces compared to the glorified being released today.
>>
>>12454449
Who said anything about modern games?
>This moldy burger I got out of the dumpster is actually good because it's better than the rat turds that are underneath the dumpster!
>>
>>12454461
Unreal 2 is an objectively great game though. The only actual criticism I ever hear of it is "muh slow movement". So fucking what.
>>
>>12454470
>objectively great game though
It's not
>>
>>12451861
No, it's not horrible, but it didn't live up to the hype or the series.
I'd love a new unreal game. We'll never get it tho
>>
>>12454635
You're wrong. It's great.

I've never heard anybody say I was wrong and it was great

Ok, now it makes sense. I bet on the wrong horse and got a gamecube. Luckily I pirated UT2004 + 100s of mods to make up for it.
>>
>>12454764
>>12452124
it's also on PC. it was just poorly marketed

GOAT crew. Also Neban is a member of noble blood
>>
>>12451861
All I remember about Unreal 2 was an interview with the devs where they boasted that girl will probably have nude mods within hours of release.

The 00's was a dark time for the FPS genre.

You are a brainless NPC. Utterly pathetic.
>>
>>12455589
Yeah, Deus Ex, Half-Life 2, No One Lives Forever 1 & 2, SWAT 4, Soldier of Fortune, ut2k4, Jedi Knight 2 and 3 (overhated btw), ....
>>
>>12455803
ut2k3 > ut2k4 but you're still right
>>
The biggest problem with Unreal 2 is that they outsourced it to Legend Entertainment, who had only worked on the expansion before. By the way, they had already messed up a previous sequel too, Star Control 3.

Same voice actor for the Redguards in morrowind and oblivion, probably the most notable thing about the game.
>>
>>12456025
Iirc it's the fov that makes it feel slow. You're not as fast as you are in Unreal, but I don't think it's that slow. Could be misremembering.
>>
Why hasnt no one tried to mod U2 to be more like the first game or UT2004 in gameplay
>>
>>12457881
It would have all the rest of the suck
>>
I checked it out while working for GameStop. Was good enough I thought about purchasing it but no one wanted to play the multiplayer (got a few games out of the crew but they didn’t want to play it over halo, like ever, so it was a no go in my circle of friends) but I still had a good time with it. It’s worth the ten dollars or so it costs imo. I remember enjoying the campaign solid 7.5 type game. I’m sure it blows most triple a shooters now days out of the water but that’s not hard to do since devs can’t make decent shooters anymore (w the rare exception but I can’t think of any that I’d rather play over this atm).
>>
>>12451861
It's all right, some levels are good and others are really mediocre and forgettable. The ship was kind of cool but the Cliffy B edge in the writing and characters is so cringey and dated now.

also I can't play the game anymore with being reminded of Morrowind/Oblivion due to the mc's VA being the Redguard Male

Why this game's failure meant another Unreal sequel could never be done is the only reason to dislike it.

Hell even UT has died off, so many old game series are just dead forever which I guess is the better choice since modern game devs can't make games for shit.
>>
>>12456783
>slopperinoo
you just keep using that word for everything. btw i love the real slop recipes on /ck/

>7.7 is bad because 7.7 is smaller than 10

Dark was good then
>>
>>12451861
It's a fun game, but a baffling choice as a sequel to Unreal.
>>
>>12457637
Nah, I tried replaying it a few years back. You move slowly, slow enough that you start to notice just how slow you are compared to the enemies.
>>
>>12455589
Mid 2000s was the very peak of FPS games. Half Life 2, FEAR, BLACK, Cold Winter etc.
>>
>>12460854
>Half Life 2, FEAR
bruh

You could have at least picked Far Cry or something
>>
>>12460854
>Half life 2
>peak of anything

>>
>>12460896
Contrarian homosexual. Half Life 2 was peak 00s gaming.
>>
I remember a couple years ago someone found (and released) a beta version of this game (or an expansion pack for it or something) and it was like a dozen levels of completely unreleased content.

What was it called again?
>>
>12461056
irony the post
>>
>>12461102
NTA, but you have to be pretty far up your own ass to consider "Half Life 2 is a good game" to be contrarian in any way, most of the world agrees with that statement
>>
>Falling for the passe "Half-Life 2 is bad" bait and not the great "Far Cry is good" bait
>>
>>12461674
HL2 is sluggish with a terrible starting pistol, retarded enemy AI, and full of gimmicky physics puzzles. Far Cry gives you a deagle right off the bat, combat is intense, and there's reasonable player choice in the outdoor levels for how to approach vs avoid fighting.
>>
unreal's movement is already too sluggish for me. unreal 2's movement is like walking on quicksand mixed with rat sticky pads' goop.
>>
>>12462758
I think HL2 is massively overrated and a disappointing sequel to HL1 but I still take it over Far Cry.
>>
>>12462758
I don't give a shit about the HL2 part of this convo.
Far Cry is such an abject piece of shit shooter that the only possible reason anyone could think otherwise is that they're merely pretending to have played it. If you're being generous you could think maybe they're confusing it for Far Cry: Predator or Far Cry: Predator Instincts, the merely mediocre Xbox/360 spinoffs.
It is a stealth action shooter where the enemies can see through jungle foliage, telepathically communicate your position to every other enemy, shoot you with pinpoint accuracy through 200 feet of solid jungle, and don't lose track of your position when you move behind completely solid walls.
It is complete dogshit and I encourage anyone who thinks otherwise to actually boot it up and play it.
>>
>>12462848
Even with all that the human enemies are still much less bullshit to deal with then the monsters later in the game.
>>
>>12462848
The last official patch for Far Cry (1.4, which was only supposed to be security hotfix) severely fucked up the game and created those issues.
>>
>>12462758

You just admitted that you did not play the game on release (if at all) and are going by YouTuber commentary.
>>
You can use the console to make the movement speed faster btw.
