Why don't this game get the same love as other Japan-only Square RPGs such as Live a Live or Trials of Mana? It's not even a Japan-only game, it's just that it came way too late into the SNES lifecycle, and wasn't released in the USA, so it suffered about as much from lack of exposure.I kinda wish it had a remake, if only because it would make people talk about it.
I always thought this was fan-translated because the seagull said "damn" and I was shocked that it was official
>>12454605I kinda like it just being what it is. Those who know know. It's a great game.>>12454608I don't remember that but I believe it. There was an NPC in Earthbound who says crap
>>12454605I feel like its an issue with rights because nobody actually knows what happened to Quintet, but they did reboot Actraiser, so who knows
It's fine but after bloody mary it becomes either a fetch quest ad nausium or it just finishes abruptly. Not a great ending for an enjoyable game desu
>>12454605What, you hear about this way more than fucking Live a Live. Also Square never touched it.
>>12454605Honestly the game is unplayable for me. It looks great, it sounds great, but it's a chore to play.I don't even know how to explain it, every movement/action feels like a chore, so I gave up even before leaving the village.I didn't really enjoy Illusion of Time/Gaia, but this is so much worse.
>>12454605>I kinda wish it had a remake, if only because it would make people talk about it.I groaned irl reading this sentence
>>12454605>live a live >trials of mana>terranigmaI've tried playing all three of these and they put me to fucking sleep. I dont know what my problem is cause Im a huge jarpig guy and I love all the other popular snes rpgs.
>>12454819I made it farther than you but I agree. Something about the combat and traversal just doesn't feel good to me. Which is sad because like you said the presentation is great and allegedly the story is great too.
>>12454605Best SNES JRPG. I just wish the combat was good, and not horribly mediocre... Outside of that, the story is amazing, and I mean by the end of the game, the story reaches the level of "art". It made me think, contemplate etc. It poses some very complex questions (questions which have only ever arisen in my mind after reading Schopenhauer etc). The ambigiously tragic ending sort of made me forget the mediocre combat. The whole role of Satan, the dark world... was to ultimately end the cycle of rebirth? Is that what you were staring at as you descended into the darkness for the final encounter? The endless cycle of life and death? Did Satan wish to end this through immortality? And the fact that your ultimate sacrifice, and the sacrifice of your world, is so futile for your own individual self... that you fade away! And that everyone will also die eventually, that the cycle will continue to live, that you are only a mere shadow... It's a powerfully crafted narrative. And nothing is ever clearly elucidated.
>wow you made a small mistake well fuck you, go fix it and then die retardNice story guys
>>12456851Very realistic

>>12454668Actraiser was ported to java mobile back when Quintet was still around, and the deal to port it or rerelease evidently extended to the Wii store and the remake it got. The other games did not have those deals so thankfully Squenix can't touch them.By the way, we do know what happened to Quintet, it went bankrupt and its director went to jail for embezzling funds on a different payment processor company he funded.
I think quintet making the same game over and over again, action rpg where you put the world back together, is actually pretty cool. It’s like how scorcese keeps making gangster movies or Tennessee Williams making every play about sexual violence and poverty. I’ve always meant to get further into this game cause some of the boss sprites are incredible. But I prefer Gaia which also should get a rerelease.
>>12459483Except for Robotrek and Robopon 2, and the weird games they made near their end like Planet Laika or that one Sega Saturn racing game. But yeah, their thematic output on the SNES was strong.
I feel like this game gets nothing but love lolOutside the normal stuff like FF6, Chrono Trigger or Earthbound, this is always heralded as one of the best the console has to offer. This isn't like 7th Saga or anything, or hell even trapped behind lack of localization for years. It's "obscure" in the sense that all of the contemporaries it has are super mainstream JRPG titles in the public conscious at this point but it is FAR more popular than any of the other RPG titles released on the SNES. It's far from some "secret club" game when it's also jerked off constantly but to a lesser extent.
As long as the remake fixes the Castle section in Spain.
The "modern" bits are not so good, e. g. all the Tokyo BS and Beruga. Didn't like the town building aspect either, like gee thanks for the concrete hell where everyone is alone and miserable, it sure was worth the effort.
>>12460067>you find Leim again>but this time you cannot speak with himMan... This game is something else
>>12454608It's probably because it was only officially released in English in yuroland. You can play it with an NTSC patch to fix the framerate today though.
>>12454605An increase of people discussing a subject has rarely proven beneficial to said subject
Well this was underwhelming https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FSwNryI7Az0
>Terranigma>Super Bomberman 3>Asterix & Obelix>The Firemen>ParodiusThe US really got screwed over compared to Europe in the SNES days.
>>12461110any one of FFVI, Chrono Trigger, Earthbound or SMRPG is worth more than all of that garbage combined. And we didn't have to play them in slo mo either.
>>12454605I'd buy Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma in a heartbeat again, why doesn't Square at least release some sort of rom bundle? After the Act Raiser remaster, which wasn't so bad despite all the art failures, I hoped this wouldn't be the end for Quintet games on steam.
>>12454605What was the deal with that island girl bitch who flips on you on one scene? i never understood that?Anyways, my cousin spend so much time playing this game on his poor 386 when it didnt even had sound and could barely run SNES games at 25fps, but we didnt care, he was building his PC himself.
>Dr. Berg, using weapons of mass destruction on JapanReally makes me think
>>12463832Funny, I read an article a while ago that compared Beruga to Yuval Harari, a jew.
>>12454605I wish there were more games like Soul Blazer or Terranigma.
>>12465243These games aren't perfect and yet have so much soul. Why they can't replicate this effect?
>>12454605>Why don't this game>grammatically incorrect zoomer jeet dipshit "Why-" bot thread #19574129867>retarded faggots still replying to it
