The year was 2000, and Sega was on a knife'sedge. The Dreamcast had sold well at launch, but a manufacturing error and the lack of support from EA had hobbled sales in the USA. Everything depended on how the console would sell over the next year.StC was in a similar position; a shell of its former self, new editor Andy Diggle would try and turn things around but it was still fairly bleak with reprints overtaking new stories.Things couldn't go on like this.Oh, and S3DBH count: 151

>>12455281This is a great page out of context.
>the comic only gets good when Lew is rehashing the "Robotnik gains omnipotence from the Chaos Emeralds" story arc that Nigel wrote
Reminder that OP is literally a pass user. He has a 30 second post timer without a captcha, so he can using scripting to bot his posts and do this with zero effort. He's paying top dollar to dump really garbage comics on the wrong board
>>12455445Im forced to admit I never actually played adventure. No dreamcast or gamecube, only playstations.
>>12456096tbf Lew was the guy who did the silly back-up strips where Tails/Amy/whoever faced some kooky villain of the week. He really wasn't suited to do the main stories, and it couldn't have helped that the whole comic was circling the drain.

>>12459338>Archie Robotnik: An alternate-universe Robotnik who fully roboticized himself and has a new mechanical body based on his official redesign so he can replace the old dead one>Fleetway Robotnik: Same guy, same design, just now wears a new coat and pantsIt's always interesting to see how both major comics handled Sega's new mandated worldwide canon after Adventure came out.
I am curious as to how killing off a Freedom Fighter would've played out if the whole "Johnny was Agent X" had played out as intended.I guess Porker would've been killed instead - he'd been ignored almost as much as Johnny, what with Tekno taking his spot as "plot-convenient gadgeteer"
>>12460356Yeah, Porker was the only other safe option; Tails and Amy are canon, so they're out, and Tekno and Shortfuse a) had just been quietly retired and b) were too popular. Meanwhile, Johnny and Porker had been making up the numbers for too long, getting lost in the shuffle and providing little more than exposition and going "Hey, we're nice lads"
Man, it's too bad the comic didn't finish with SA2. I imagine we would have found out that Kintober was originally from Earth and was transported to Mobius and General Granite comes back as the stand in force for GUN. Shadow i could see being written as a clone made of Sonic, unless Sega demanded closer connections to the source material.
Can we take a moment to really appreciate how fucking hard Fleetway goes with the finale. I wish Archie was allowed a dignified conclusion instead of a reboot then a mid story arc cancelation.Fleetway Robot just not giving a fuck and wanting to kill Sonic and Mobius is briliant.
>>12459451KAKYOIN, AVDOL, IGGY, JOHNNY LIGHTFOOT.... IT'S OVER.
>>12460641Well, it wasn't THAT dignified behind the scenes. Kitching wanted a few more issues to wrap up the Knuckles sub-plot, but was told by editorial that StC was going to be nothing but reprints from now on.
>>12461046I really wish we got one more year of STC just so they could do SA2, I want to see what British Shadow and Rouge would be like.
Funny how they didn't even bother to work in Gamma or Big. I wonder if they were setting up Drakkon Chaos as "Froggy" and Big would be some dimwitted grunt that carries him around trying to get the chaos energy back. Also i didn't start from the beginning but besides the main cast, Chaotix and Nack, did any other game characters show up in this? Closest I saw was the one kids fan art submission that included Ray, Bean and Bark.
Man, the art in this last arc is unbelievable. And delighted-to-die Robotnik is a treat. Thanks for posting these, anon - I was still buying StC at the (what felt like) slightly too old age of 13, but dipped out after issue 100. Always wondered what became of it.
>>12461664Big did get a cameo in >>12459442 but I don't blame you for missing that. It's a real shame StC had gotten rid of new back-up stories, because SA1 was pretty much made for it; I could easily see Big tagging along with Tails, or Gamma tussling with the Guardian Robots on the Floating Island.
>>12458870It ruined /a/ after it being a perfectly fine board for like 20 years. He's even posting the same retarded Facebook memes as he does there
Because I never got the chance before... here's something for the gen alphas!
boomers aged really well
>>12461664tbf StC only adapted the games that made it to the UK (not counting the single SegaSonic cabinet in Sega World London) presumably at Sega's behest
