It features a higher end MIPS CPU, the custom Emotions Engine is an evolution over the Playstation 1's GTE. the N64 also is powered by a MIPS RISC CPU as well. The N64 RCP was developed by a sub team at Silicon Graphics, who later formed ARTX under the ATi banner. ARTX developed the GameCube's chipset. The genesis was practically a low cost arcade board somewhat based on the Sega16 arcade hardware. It also has full backwards compatibility with the SMS.

Both the Dreamcast and N64 are evolutions of the PC, really this is more like a tree of roughly comparable systems across generations. Come to think of it, Genesis is an evolution of a computer, TG16 is a direct hardware evolution of the NES, Xbox IS a PC, etc.

Xbox is just a console-ified PC from the time, so it should be on its own. I don't think people realize how big it was that a console could use the same graphical library as PC games using standard GPUs, it set the standard going forward and now every console is a PC.
