Is this the greatest NES game?
>>
>>12456345
Can't think of an overall better game at the moment so I'm going to say yes.
>>
its definitely in the running
>>
>>12456345
I'd put Zelda 1, Mega Man 3, Mega Man 4, Contra, Super C, and Super Mario Bros above it

Shatterhand.
>>
>>12456345
for me it's Bionic Commando
>>
>>12456345
the japanese version is
>>
>>12456345
super mario bros 3 and dragon quest 3 both exist, so no. But it's got a great argument for 3rd place.
>>
>>12456345
No.

But vaniabros, please tell me how many times have you played CV3 or the other games?
>>
>>12456345
>HELP ME
>>
>>12456345
Top 10 for me and I really like about 100 NES games.
>>
>>12456345
one of my friends awhile ago said CV3 is a bad game because of the horrible level design and platforming. Honestly don't know if he was trolling
>>
Zelda 2 and Blaster Master are the games I return to the most.

One could argue CV3 has a better presentation, but it's close. It's more complex, but that doesn't necessarily make it better. Example, Zelda 2's graphical style is much simpler, but it definitely communicates a sense of place.

CV1 maybe half a dozen times
CV3 maybe a dozen times. I did every possible character combination and also play all 3 regions.
Dracula X (Rondo): maybe 5 times
Dracula XX and Bloodlines: too many to count. I'm talking 30+ each.
X68000: at least 3 times
The others only once but I never beat the first and third GB games
>>
>>12456345
Too hard.
>>
>>12456920
>I did every possible character combination and also play all 3 regions
Ok but did you take every character to every route on the second loop? Like Sypha on Alucard's path and viceversa?
>>
>>12456809
>DQ2
>FF2
Holy contrarian
>>
>>12457056
I tried the 2nd loop once and didn't care much for it
>>
>>12456809
>TMNT3
Based. Even better than Turtles in Time in some ways.
>>
>>12456442
it's threes all the way down...
>>
>>12457396
really seems like the second entry for a lot of these NES era games were retarded experiments with bad execution and then the third game they adjust to the criticism, tighten up, stop being cute and just expand on what made the first one great. Fits for mario, castlevania, dragon quest, FF, zelda, metroid
>>
>>12456345
It's my favorite by far
>>
>>12456443
I've played CV1 through to the end more than probably any other game, I sometimes sit down and go through that game in under an hour if I'm bored and can't think of anything else to play. It's never not fun. CV3 I've played through around 6-7 times? I only played it for the first time recently and I don't just boot it up and run through it on a whim like CV1 as much because it usually takes me much longer to beat.
>>
>>12456443
I 1CC'd all of the classicvanias (X68000 aside), so many many times
>>
>>12456345
Maybe the superior nipponese version.

I grew up in the NES era but didn't have an NES but my friends did so I mostly experienced 1-3 secondhand. I did get an SNES and immediately bought 4 and by now I've played it more times than I can count. Still have the cartridge and my SNES and I play it every year around halloween.

I stumbled across SOTN at my local video rental place in the 90's, it was an inventory sale and I think I paid like $10 for it. Still have that, too, original case, instruction book and everything. Probably beat it 20-30 times across the original and rerelases. Also an annual replay around halloween.

Got Rondo with the Dracula X chronicles and it's my second favorite after IV. I thought maybe it was overrated because it was an obscure title but it really is good. Between the PSP and PSN versions I've probably beaten it a dozen times. The last of my obligatory halloween playthroughs, the rest is some random combination of the GBA/ DS games depending on what I have time for

Got the PS1 version of Chronicles, beat it maybe 2 or 3 times. It's good but fucking hard.

Finally got to play 1-3 for myself when Konami released the collection. Found them enjoyable but a bit overtuned for my tastes. Beat all the games in the collection once, including the Game Boy ones and Dracula X (which, ironically, is not actually in the Dracula X chronicles). Honestly had to savescum the fuck out of a few of them because I just didn't want to spend two days replaying the same levels.. Replayed CV1 again this year, keep thinking I'll go back to 3 at some point because I didn't explore all the alternate paths yet.

Beat Dracula X twice since I missed some stuff the first time. Don't know why everyone tries to meme it so hard, it's mid.

Also got Bloodlines fairly recently. I like it but at the same time doesn't feel entirely like a CV game to me. I've beaten it once with both characters.

Tried Haunted Castle once. Fuck that shit

It is close to the top of the list but as I grow older I have decided that the #1 winner for best NES game for fun, sound, and graphics, is Kirby’s Adventure.

Looks so good the NES can't run it
>>
For me it's Bucky O'Hare

Truly one of the most ambitious NES games, but it has an input issue where your jump and attack inputs literally do get eaten sometimes.

https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/7595/

Honestly if Infidelity keeps up his NES to SNES ports I'd love to see him do Kirby's Adventure sometime.
There's someone else that has done such ports too iirc.
>>
>>12460235
Doesn't the 3DS re-release fix the input issue?
>>

>Rigid controls cheap enemyslop: the game
Gradius is better. Faxanadu and Crystalis if you like RPG's. All the NES CV games just feel like a slog to play.

Kirby deserved to be on the Master System instead. Hell it feels like they were trying to make a Master System game. NES Kirby on the Master System would've been the generation's greatest platformer.

I can't call Punch-out the best because Tyson is a cheesy and mostly unenjoyable final boss tbqdesu.

I know some anon is going to chime in with "actually I TKOd him in 5 seconds first try when I was 3 years old" or whatever but you're full of shit.

Am i a normie if i think SMB3 is the best one?
>>

It's a popular normie opinion, but SMB3 is also a good game
Liking SMB3 doesn't make you a normie, but most normies like SMB3

If you think it's the best Mario game I disagree but can live with the opinion

If you think it's the best NES game period, then pic related
