>Segagaga is a 2001 role-playing simulation video game developed by Hitmaker and published by Sega for the Dreamcast console in Japan.

>The player takes control of the character Sega Tarō, who must help save a struggling Sega from losing to its rival DOGMA, who owns 97% of the console market. Gameplay involves battling employees and other characters throughout various Sega development studios, some being taken from older Sega game franchises. It features many tongue-in-cheek references to Sega and the video game industry, particularly Sony Computer Entertainment and its PlayStation 2 console.

Wait a second. SEGA made a whole fucking seething session as a game?

It’s a fun little game, I recommend it. Only takes around 8-10 hours for a playthrough, and a good chunk of that is game development.

You realize that you can easily trick AI into agreeing to just about any argument you make right? That's part of the problem with it, it's easy to do that even if you're not even trying to do that.

Before you can even afford that appeal to normalcy fallacy ("everyone poops so it's okay for me to shit like An Indian (A.I.)") there needs to be a situation in the first place where everyone is forced to eat your shit and hasn't seen anything edible that wasn't at least slightly better than shit.

Even then, the main reason why people hate machine translations is because they experience them and finds out they are shit.
You probably love them because you make them (read: beg a company to generate them for you, or you are burning money and finite resources and trying to justifying your investment) or because they make you "feel good", but that still won't satisfy what these people are looking for in the first place when looking for translations.
So your retort is to tell them "how about we change the definitions so that this faggotry counts as quality work" or "how about you play it even if you don't like it, with even less pay than minimum wage beta testers, so that you help me scam more suckers like you into thinking this isn't a complete waste of time that could have went into another project or language learning?"
That's a lot of words for a dishonest scam where the most important thing is (You), not the sucker who'll play this, or the integrity and actual quality of the work.

You can just click anywhere in the script dump and find garbage that reads like you paid some Vietnamese dude $20 on Fiverr to do it for you. It's literally everywhere. It's like opening up some awful manga scanlation and getting a full dose of all the stiff, wooden, "correct but wrong" shit that you can possibly do in the J-E language pair.
Even if AI and MTL had no part in this, which clearly they did, this is the kind of shit any decent translator grows out of very quickly when honing their skills.
>>
>>12463402
>"correct but wrong"
You just can't make this shit up. Lmao
>>
>>12463408
"Even if you say (that)..." is technically a "correct" way to render the literal words そう言われても. That's why it's so commonly used throughout low-tier, low-effort, low-skill translations. However, it is "wrong" because it fails to say what そう言われても actually means and fails to convey how it is actually used.
Therefore, yes. Absolutely. "Correct but wrong" is an apt way of describing this type of translation.

There are actual errors in the translation, but instead of pointing to them, you immediately go for the ones where the translation is correct, you just don't like how it sounds. That's silly as hell, and you should have just pointed to something better.

>>12463429
He's right though. Again, there are actual translation errors, but most of the people shitting on the translation are generally ignorant of both this game and the ones it references.
For instance, on the github, there was a guy complaining about pic related, because they didn't translate Baku Baku to 'Thump Thump'.
>>
>>12463429
You haven’t played the game
>>
>>12463432
>but instead of pointing to them, you immediately go for the ones where
I'm going for the biggest red flags that signal deeper, more pressing issues with the translation as a whole.
You can write off an entire translated work automatically if you start seeing shit like "even if you say that..." in there because it demonstrates a lack of Japanese comprehension in a way that is more damaging than not being able to understand the literal meanings of words. You don't even need to see the rest of the work to know that it is rife with errors, misunderstandings, and awkward sounding trash.
This is like seeing thick white smoke billowing out from under the hood and out the tailpipe of a car. You don't need to drive it to know it's fucked up, and you don't want to fuck with that shit.

>I'm going for the biggest red flags
That's what makes this silly. Your biggest red flags aren't actual translation errors (Skies of Arcadia listed as a "great sea voyage" game instead of "great sky voyage"), or technical errors like pic related, or even the occasional spelling or grammar error. The biggest issue with the translation is... lines that you openly admit are translated correctly.
>>
The translators should have just never mentioned AI and deflected any criticism with "sorry we're ESL :)" and everything would have been fine
>>
>>12463470

>>
>>12463809
>just a native english speaker
I somehow doubt that since you think there's a difference between "it doesn't matter" and "who cares". You're just sperging out over a question mark.
>>
>>12463809
The "rhetorical question" element is literally built into the inclusion of ね at the tail of the sentence. It seeks agreement in much the same way.
tl;dr - you're retarded.
>>
>>12463825
>complaining about a correct translation because you don't like it is okay
>complaining about an incorrect translation because I don't like it isn't
lol

>>12463826
You are (or rather your choice of AI that you're using to translate is) literally changing "It doesn't matter whatever the true meaning is" to "Who cares what the meaning is?" which is completely different. If you spoke either Japanese or English properly you'd be able to understand this.
>>
>>12463826
Why is a random person seeking Segagaga's agreement? It makes more sense if they're being objective
>>
>>12463829
>>complaining about a correct translation because you don't like it is okay
>>complaining about an incorrect translation because I don't like it isn't

>>
>>12463836
>Good thing I'm not the guy that posted that image
Then you should have absolutely no issue agreeing with me instead of arguing for no reason.

The original is saying truth isn't relevant, the autistic 'correction' is saying nobody should care about the truth. It's objective dismissal vs attitudinal dismissal. The AIDS brigade that has made a huge deal out of the Segagaga translation is retarded.
>>
>>12463842
>Then you should have absolutely no issue agreeing with me instead of arguing for no reason.
No? You posted stupid shit and I called you stupid. Like right now.
>the autistic 'correction' is saying nobody should care about the truth
If anything the "original" is saying that: the truth doesn't matter so stop caring about it.
But you know this post makes me realize you're not even looking at the Japanese, just the translations. "Who cares" is actually far more fitting for (x)なんてどうでもいい rather than what the SGGG team came up with. It's very, as you put it, "attitudinal dismissal".

No it isn't. You don't know Japanese and have no business pretending you do.
>本当の意味なんてどうでもいいんだ。= Whatever the true meaning is doesn't matter.
>うちの組に都合のいいお告げならね。= As long as it's a prophecy that works to our group's benefit.
You have so little business translating that I wouldn't be shocked if you do it for a living. Turning a basic statement like the above into "lol who cares", fuck off.
