What an amazing upgrade from GTA 3 holy shitFor some reason I skipped all the GTAs on PS2 but they would've blown my mind. San Andreas next
>>12462061>amazing upgrade>the map is just a giant Snoreside Vale
>San Andreas nextOh you're in for a treat in terms of upgrade.
vc is the worst 3d era titleseriously the map is dogshit
>>12462061Right? The soundtrack, voiced protag, story, outfits, weapons, bikes, helicopters, military base, in-game map, the soundtrack, buying property, enterable buildings, scarface mansion, robberies, stadium and the fucking soundtrack.
>>12462061play vice city stories
>>12462086Imagine having tastes this shitty
>>12462190He's correct. If the primarily driving game is more fun when you cheat the roads with a helicopter, you did something wrong.
>>12462061>What an amazing upgrade from GTA 3 holy shitObjectively wrong.
>>12462190You'll understand one day. Enjoy your ignorance.
I think the map is fine
>>12462247Half the map is unfinished dude not to mention tiny.
>>12462061another day to play this gem
>>12462061Wait until you see what an upgrade SA is. Not a huge fan of GTA but it's an impressive game for the PS2 and undeniably good overall. The only thing I don't like is the fact there are too many blacks in it.
>>12462330SA is consistently the least fun of the three for me
>>12462086This
>>12462086GTA3 is soulless compared to VC ya doomerSorry you can't appreciate VCPR
>another size queen threadlevel design of vc map is peak open world. portland in 3 was good too but staunton sucks, just a bunch of grids and shoreside's lopsided ass is interesting but doesn't get used well
>>12462079SA missions are boring as shit.
>>12462532>VCPRChatterbox mogs.
It's not all about map size and honestly Shoreside Vale in 3 was a bit of a boring areaBut jumping from that to VC and being introduced to all quality of life improvements and features already mentioned in the first replies, and then the sense of humor and characters really sold it for meI will play Vice City Stories next
Loved GTA 3, but Vice City was the only one I’ve beaten. Enjoyed it a lot, although the end game was a bit lacking from what I remember (like once you get enough cash to buy the mansions iirc it’s pretty much over). It’s been so long tho. A big draw for this game was the OST. At GameStop we sold like a massive cd pack for it that was physically huge. Need to see if I can find a picture of it. Anyway the hype around this game is as insane at the time especially w the setting and music. 14 million copies on ps2 alone sold putting it in the top 5. Was a massive success. If only they had added swimming to a game set around beaches… fml
>>12462061you can skip 3, its a soulless game with an empty map, shitty missions and forgettable characters.
>>12462061VC>IV>SA>CTW=III>V>II>I>GBA>GBC
>>12462482I’ve never gotten through the main story in SA. Too many frustrating missions and I have no interest in doing the gang territory stuff. Too much open world bloat.
>>12462890>f only they had added swimming to a game set around beachesIt will always be funny to me how the devs of Driver 3 made fun of this by giving Timmy Vernicelli water wings kek.
>>12462945Also shitty "RPG" mechanics. Why the fuck do you have to micromanage food and fitness? What is this, Sims?
>>12463006>micromanage food and fitnessCome on, man. I don't like these mechanics either, but it's not like you constantly have to eat and train like in some sort of survival game. All you need to do is eat a salad about every ten ingame days or so, and the fitness thing doesn't matter at all once you reached max since the regular walking/running you do anyways while playing stops it from degrading.
>>12462976if only they could make good games. epic bants, but they couldn't compete
>>12463028>try to finish taxi mission in one sitting at the beginning of the game>die from hungerAlso actually having to do the shitty gym minigame in the first place is a part of enshittification already.SA is a game where for the every legitimately good mechanical addition there are five annoying ones.I like my simple arcade-y GTAs like 2 and III.
>>12462976That’s pretty funny. I’ve never seen this before
>>12463046get 11 meals before you start, it should last you for all 50 fares
>>12462061I didn't like it at first as the forced business grinding kills the pacing and the map is an overall downgrade, but I don't know, it definitely grew on me as I played. I couldn't even tell you why I enjoyed it so much, I feel like GTA is one of those series that is just better than the sum of its parts.
>>12464954>the forced business grinding kills the pacingPersonally, I felt like that part was fine, since I was going for 100% completion anyway and for the most part it's just more missions. However the map is truly awful and trying to find the last stunt was infuriating.
>>12463036Yeah, that's true. You can clearly tell that they shoehorned all the weapon-related stuff in just to compete with GTA, and they massively failed in doing so. It could have been a great game if they just skipped that stuff and concentrated on making it a pure driving game like the previous titles.>>12464591It's a collectible, there's several Timmy Vernicellis hidden on all maps and by killing them all you unluck bonus stuff.
my personal favourite of the ps2 trilogy even though SA is probably the better game. soundtrack and vibe is unmatchedhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ZDUEilS5M4
>>12462061I use to jack off to the chick with the martini all the time
III is the best GTAVice City is a better III
