I'm not good at Puyoing my Puyo's. It's one of my greatest regrets in life. I like Tetris and Panel de Pon, and I'm great at both games, but Puyo Puyo just doesn't click for some reason. I've tried checking out tutorials and learning techniques like stacking but for whatever reason I just can't get the hang of this game and the CPU always knocks me out on the second stage. How do I Puyo my Puyo's?
>>12462143I love all three, and probably Puyo the most. If you like the other two it's just a manner of wrapping your head around how to envision building chains. I can't articulate it easily, but if you keep trying you'll get it eventually. I believe in you. Keep going, it will click.
>>12462161So you're saying that the more I Puyo my Puyo's, the better I'll be at Puyoing my Puyo's and it will be more fun and feel better? And that people who are good at Puyoing Puyo's probably spent lots of time doing it as a teenager so that's why today they're really good at edging their towers up until it all explodes?
>>12462143>>12462194OP, why are you talking like a retard?
>>12462202Coombrain does that, he's only interested in puyo for the uooh roris
>>12462230Arle is 16 (jailbait-tier), so she's probably too old for him.
>>12462143Start by practicing sandwiches like this... Construct the formation in the red box first. Do that, then we'll talk about GTR. But this is enough to beat the first two games and some others.
Both are amateur techniques though, and it's not very practical in play because one garbage can ruin it and this is another one
>>12462265maybe not the second game.
>>12462249Out of 10!
>>12462265>>12462280What makes this good?
>>12462314Well it's simple and effective, for beginners this is naturally what they will do first. There's only one way to seal it, but you can alternate and freestyle, it doens't need to be exactly like a showed it, and you can keep stacking shit to adjust for bad colors onto it as much as you want and you'll see that later with GTR. Not like this, but they all have the same starting point.
>>12462356I don't understand
>>12462194Nah, I played shit tons of Tetris growing up, would beat game type B level 9 - 5 high on Gameboy at least once each night before sleeping for years but didn't play any Puyo till my mid 30's.
>>12462387
frogstacking is all you need, works every time
>>12462403This is good but the pieces you get are random ingame. What do you do when you're setting up a pattern, let's say RGBY, and you get double purple?
>>12462419Then you need to change the colors. I used this just as an example, but if you gave them names like Color 1, Color 2, etc. it's really no different than any other way. You can visualize the build of it in your head, the colors are not as important as making sure none of it conflicts.Just be sure that you do not use same colors 1 space apart, this can create color conflicts. Unless you're intentionally trying to cut your chain, you probably don't want this to happen. In that video, if the yellow above the red was green, the chain would have ended right there. From there, you may use another green you get to finish the rest of it, or you can build upon it again. Additionally, as you're building you may need to start it to counterattack an opponent chain or to disrupt them.TL;DR - use the first few colors you get to build this starting point. It does not have to be red and green, nor does it have to be on the left side. If you get 3-4 different colors at the start, you need to use them to build the other parts.
>>12462419So let's say my first two blocks give me 4 different puyos, one way you can do it is like this:I put the first one in the corner to use as my raise and lay the other one flat, and then build gtr like normalthe purple and red in the bottom left probably won't be used in this chain, but that's okay
same with purple purplemaybe if you can get 2 more purple you can stack it and complete it with another green
>>12462143It's unclear what you're doing exactly, but it looks like the characters are both holding bags and dropping Puyo slimes into the bags, with the goal of dropping them in such a manner that they can eliminate all of them and beat the other player.
I only just realized there is a way to use them without wasting them. If you can plan it out far enough, put it opposite of your starting point and then you can build up vertically as much as you want.
>>12462394How old were you the first time you Puyo'd your Puyo's?
>>12462143
>>12462746I had dabbled a little here and there with a rom of mean bean machine but it was the DS version where I started playing a lot and really got into it, so around 34 or 35.
>>12462202Not op but I find that shit funny in a retarded way
I've played a few versions/variants of this but unless I get lucky, I always get my shit kicked in a couple rounds in.I find it difficult to strategize placement once your opponent starts taking huge consecutive dumps in your playfield
>>12462143God I want to sandwich my cock in between those thighs and thrust.
>>12462143I do a little better in Puyo than Panel de Pon, in that I can actually make a 3-chain somewhat consistently meanwhile in Panel de Pon I can't chain at all and the only way I've "beaten" VS mode is through doing 4s and 5s as fast as I can.It took me 52 continues on hardI prefer Tetris and Lumines though which is why I suck so badly at the other two.
>>12462889Based
>>12463171Lumines is one I never really got into. You like it that much eh? I might have to give it another look.
>>12462265>>12462280I see these sorts of patterns posted often and they never work for me because I get stuff that doesn't work with what I'm constructing. Also neither of these include purple.
>>12462143You should consider lumnsing your Columns instead.
>>12465627it's going to take a lot of practice to unlearn and relearn a new set. What are you trying to make? Do you make stairs?
>>12465627That's the game... like how in Tetris you are trying to set up opportunities to get 4 rows at once while keeping your level low enough waiting for a long piece, here you're trying to set up a chain while clearing puyos. Don't focus on big chains like those at first, just work on setting up chains of two until you get the hang of it.
I swear its impossible to get good at Puyo against the CPU. From like stage 4 onwards they just instantly drop everything where it needs to be at light speed, your only hope is to just randomly place shit at the same speed they're going and hope it all falls into place when you pop something.
>>12462889Draco is better
Behold! The GTR Bible:https://web.archive.org/web/20231220103628/https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/133021087989628928/572458313426403339/GTR.pdf
Stop telling new players to learn GTR. Focus on staircase first. You can get 5 or 6 chain with just that, more if you learn to transition to the 2nd level.
bump
>the only version that explains the last floor flying away in the ending was Satan's ruse>the only version with a 4 player mode, other than linked arcade cabsIs this (and the Remix rerelease) the definitive version of Tsu?
>>12466582He will never practice or learn.
>>12462265>Do that, then we'll talk about GTR.But... you're practically talking about GTR.>>12466296Get one of the modern games and play against weak characters likes Draco or Amitie in versus mode.>>12462889Arle has that effect on people.
