which has the best video output?I just saw dreamcast over VGA which looked unreal, but are the others as good?
>>12463343The Dreamcast of course since it could output 640x480 over vga. The best the other 3 ever had natively was 480p over component video.I bought a 42” Plasma TV with component and VGA inputs and the PS2 and Xbox could both output 480p widescreen. But you could see the difference with Dreamcast over VGA
Dreamcast=XBOX>Gamecube>PS2PS2 is easiest to get since component cables for it are plentiful but 480i sucks. XBOX and output 720p and Dreamcast 640x480. Gamecube is just a clean 480p and most games support the resolution.
>>12463343ps2 can output upto 1080i powered by the emotion engine. let's be real here, the other consoles are several tiers below in terms of video output. xbox comes a little close, but it still can't do as many effects as the ps2
>>12463360you're fucking ridiculous
bruh
Xbox and DC are the best, GC is good, PS2 is shit
I'd say dreamcast has the best video output out of the box. Once you start talking about mods and homebrew it gets more complicated. But basically only ps2 will give you problems these days.
>>12463343Stock? Dreamcast over VGA is beautiful and unmatched until HDMI-equipped consoles came out.Xbox has its awful deflicker filter and the video output quality varies wildly depending on which encoder chip your console has. In the right configuration a modded Xbox can look very good though.PS2 games tend to run at a very low res and are usually interlaced so it's not very good outside of very specific titles. Special mention for how it's almost impossible to find PS2 RGB cables, since most of them are wired for PS1 which makes the image way too dark.I don't have enough experience with the Gamecube to say anything.
>>12463343>dreamcast over VGA which looked unrealBest looking 480p compatible PS2 games, such as Gran Turismo 4, and graded component cables give a 7th gen feel.
>>12463343GameCube is the only one with digital out
>>12463406>Special mention for how it's almost impossible to find PS2 RGB cables, since most of them are wired for PS1 which makes the image way too dark.Cent you just get some from Retro-Access? Or if you’re a bong I’m pretty sure RGC has some CSYNC cables left. Ooooor, just get some random shit from Ebay and it’ll probably work fine. My cheapest cable certainly doesn’t have any brightness issues.
>>12463360Can do 1080p using PsF.
>>12463370that's not vga
>>12463343I never understood the hype for the VGA adapter. I bought one because of all the hype online and was massively disappointed. All it did was bring out all the imperfections in the games. Every jaggy was crystal clear, in Space Channel 5 you could see how low res the backgrounds were. I kept using it though because it was cool how I could play dreamcast games on the computer monitor while watching cartoon network on the TV.
>>12463343Gamecube on the s-video was top
2 say gamecubes but I have never seen the diver dc in real or the build in Ps2 tv
>>12463364He's just the PS2 shitposter, he doesn't believe what he's saying
>>12463343Xbox is highly dependent on which revision motherboard you have. Pre 1.4 units and the 1.6 units have pretty good progressive video output, but the interlaced content is pretty soft. The 1.4 revision has a different video encoder that makes progressive video softer. The 1.6 video encoder has issues with some titles running in progressive mode, but those are fixable with homebrew. The Dreamcast's video output is the sharpest of the bunch, but earlier GameCube's have a digital AV port that looks great with official component video options or with any HDMI converter. The PS2 needs a good upscaler for Motion-Adaptive deinterlacing, but the output is good in either RGB or component mode. 480p and above can be softer depending on which game you play like with one of the Tomb Raider titles.
